neanderthol
so i've decided to get 2.7m tokkul for an uncut onyx. i know this might seem like stupid idea but it will get me around 3 million ranged xp at quite a good xp/h. i want the gem so i can make a fury amulet out of it requesting assistance of other players for the cutting etc. i know i can make gp much faster and just buy it, but it is a goal of mine. but i was having second thoughts about turning it into fury as i've heard it has street value. does anyone know how much it is going for? btw im 425k tokkul on my way :)
Obtaurian
With turmoil, extremes, rapier, steel titan + scrolls, and good gear, it takes about 15-20 hours to get an onyx. Just ranging and using safespots is going to take significantly longer, as you can imagine. I doubt that onyx gems have enough street to justify spending that much time ranging. I know it's a goal of yours, but if you make money another way and just buy a fury and use red chins to get your 3m ranged exp, you'll save a TON of time. I would guess that you'd save at least 20-30 hours of work, and that's a lot. Just something to consider. I wouldn't normally tell you to just do something else, but you'll probably go crazy trying to camp for a gem. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off. ruben1026
I tried a while ago the same thing you are trying. It gets real boring and the drops just don't justify the amount of time it will take. Do slayer to train range and u will profit a lot faster.

Slayer is very overrated even in the high 70's which is where i am right now. If your range level and gear is good enough to enable you to steal kills, thzaar is a great training environment. aspeeder
There's a discrepancy between the price of cut/uncut onyx and a fury due to them being used to make the untradable onyx ring (i), but it doesn't have street value. http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww6/aspeeder/Siggy_zpsewaiux2t.png 99 Strength since 6/02/10 99 Attack since 9/19/10 99 Constitution since 10/03/10 99 Defense since 3/14/11 99 Slayer since 8/30/11 99 Summoning since 9/10/11 99 Ranged since 09/18/11 99 Magic since 11/12/11 99 Prayer since 11/15/11 99 Herblore since 3/29/12 99 Firemaking since 5/15/12 99 Smithing since 10/04/12 99 Crafting since 9/16/13 99 Agility since 9/23/13 99 Dungeoneering since 1/1/14 99 Fishing since 2/4/14 99 Mining since 2/28/14 99 Farming since 6/04/14 99 Cooking since 6/11/14 99 Runecrafting since 10/10/14 9 Fletching since 11/11/14 99 Thieving since 11/14/14 99 Woodcutting since 11/20/14 99 Construction since 12/03/14 99 Divination since 2/22/15 99 Hunter since 2/23/15 99 Invention since 01/20/17 99 Archaeology since 5/14/22 99 Necromancy since 11/22/25 Quest Point Cape since 08/20/09 Maxed since 2/23/15 Fire Cape since 02/27/13 Slayer: 3 Leaf-Bladed Swords, 8 Black Masks, 2 Hexcrests, 26 Granite Mauls, 5 Focus Sights, 33 Abyssal Whips, 9 Dark Bows, 1 Whip Vine, 3 Staffs of Light, 15 Polypore Sticks Dragon: 10 Draconic Visages, 7 Shield Left Halves, 20 Dragon Boots, 40 Dragon Med Helms, 8 Dragon Platelegs, 6 Dragon Spears, 20 Dragon Daggers, 5 Dragon Plateskirts, 1 Dragon Chainbody, 63 Off-hand Dragon Throwing Axes, 19 Dragon Longswords, 27 Dragon Maces, 1 Dragon Ward Treasure Trails: Saradomin Full Helm, Ranger Boots, Rune Body (t), Saradomin Vambraces, Various God Pages Misc:1 Onyx,1 Ahrim's Hood, 1 Guthan's Chainskirt, 1 Demon Slayer Boots
saywuuuut
I have no clue to your question, but wish you good luck. Some things aren't the most efficient, but I like goals like yours myself because they keep the game interesting. I once made 1k curry gathering all the supplies myself, just to see what it was like and I don't regret spending time like that at all. As you long as you enjoy killing for tokkul, good on you. Slayer doesn't get good in the 70's  Speaking purely efficiency wise, tzhaar are absolutely horrible (so is slayer for range training). That being said, you should try it out if it's come to your mind to do it, because you may thoroughly enjoy it. As for your question on what to turn it into. Either a ring or Fury. If you plan to get the MA rings, make it into a ring, but if you don't plan to anytime soon, fury. stonewall337
uncut/cut onyx has no street to speak of.Ye, ring is where the value is, and its considerably lower then normal. As well, with nothing to trade it for/junk, the ring will do you nothing. [hide=Drops]Araxxor Eye x1 Leg pieces x2GWD: 5000 Addy bar Steam B Staff x3 Z Spear x6 Sara.
