Hey!

 

Some of you might've seen my blog (which hasn't had that many replies though), but most probably haven't. To start with, I'm 17 years old (very soon turning 18, this level is kinda birthday present. You know 9+9=99 or 18) student from Finland and I've played RS for odd 9 years (started in the late 2001 or early 2002). This charecther is about 8 years old, and it's not my first. I have scythe but I frankly missed bunny ears.

 

I have dozens of memories from the game, about it's development of what it was to what it is now. However, back when I started I found smithing to be very interesting skill. Actually, this account started with "miner" class, which was one of the few options. Mining and smithing (as they were very closely related) were always my favourite skills, and for long they were also the highest. However, the game changed alot - and mining nor smithing were not as useful skills as they used to be. Fishing, combat, runecrafting, farming and eventually skills like slayer and hunter became alot better moneymakers, and smithing was just rather a moneysink. Unless you wanted to do cannonballs or smelt steel bars which took ages and were very slow experience. That's when my passion for mining and smithing started to fade, and I started training more combat.

 

However I've lost interest to the game quite a few times during my journey. For a person who has played 8 years on an account, I have extremely low stats and quite bad bank too. I used to do some merching (and was quite good at it too) but I gave it up and made some "mistakes" by leaving cashpiles to bank instead of rares when quiting for years. That was more of the fact that I just simply didn't care.

 

Anyways, when I started playing (71 days ago exactly) again, something funny happened. One good friend of mine, Scaledwurm, had also started playing after years long break. Few years back we used to compete against each other on everything and have fun while talking. Then we both dissapeared from the game for years. And funny enough, we both come back during same week. After that it was certain I wanted to play again. Fast check of bank (which looked same as I had left it, like 80m worth of stuff) and markets, few clicks of calculator and my plan was set. I was finally ready to get the 99 I always wanted. 99 Smithing. Thats where my 70 days journey of smelting bars and superheating some alongside started, and finally ended today. Some statistics:

During the 71 days I smelted 201,000 bars.

Which means I averaged about 2830 bars per day.

At the best day I made 7607 bars, and 0 bars in the worst.

I also got 930,000 xp from assisting other people (thank you very much for letting me assist), and 91,5k experience from my own effigys and one dragonkin lamp.

Finally I was able to accomplish one of my longest RS related dreams. Smith full rune.

 

 

What's better than playing around with yo-yo, in brand new smithing cape, while having selfmade rune full in inventory and watching while others keep on pushing themselves forward? :-D

 

 

And here is my BOB after the smithing goal. As you can see, even though the smithing costed me over 50m, my bank is worth alot more than when I started. That's something I'm very happy about!

 

^ That includes about 17m worth of collectings I collected from Miscellania a while earlier. And 7,5m in the coffins now.

 

So.. What the heck am I supposed to do now? :P My whole last two months of RS aimed only to this moment, and nothing beyond that was being thought out. I guess I'm just playing around with my yo-yo for a week or two now. :D

99 Magic eh? Well I'm sort of slowly working on it. Magic tends to have it's use pretty much on everything, so the experience is slowly (but surely) stacking up.

 

Now I'm doing a mix up of pretty much everything. Slaying, barrows, doing some cooking and all that stuff. A bit like whatever I feel like. You can check my blog in blogscape if you're more interested. ;-)

Quite a story. It must really feel great to have achieved that goal after such an incredible long time. And it is really crazy that you and your friend came back to RS at the same week...What is the chance of that happening, really :P?
