Just some advice needed on training a few skills

Featured Replies

Ok so I want to train up a few skills and I'm not entirely sure what the most efficient options are nowadays, so I'm asking for a little help.

Runecrafting: I'm more or less 82, need 86, doing ZMI. Is it more efficient to TDS/Frost Drag and run the effigies? Also, in ZMI, with the new bank update, is it efficient to still use a Lurker?

Crafting: I need 94 and I'm dumping my daily bstaves (100/day) into this, hopefully I'll get the level by the time I get the others. If not, how should I approach this?

Smithing: Still Addy plates?

Fletch/WC: I can either go with 90-95 woodcutting or 82-94 fletching. Which would be faster, assuming I do the best/fastest methods for each?

I think that's it for now, thanks!

An alt to just solo Fletching and Runecrafting would be to do Addy bolts while running to alter.

If not, effigy hunting isn't quite as efficient as Zmi but atleast you wont kill yourself in the process of leveling.

Crafting sounds good, just getting your daily bstaves.

Addy plates are still best from what I know.

And I think Fletching would be better than wc'ing.

ZMI is probably your best bet for runecrafting, for crafting you could stick with that or get sc needles and make green bodies. Smithing would be addy plates i guess and fletching would be alot quicker then woodcutting or you could train both by cutting yews and fletching but that would take alot longer.

I'd buy extra bstaves from the GE to speed it up a bit, that's how I got 95 crafting at least.

I'd get fletching cause it's more total lvls, is pretty useful in daemonheim (making GC bows for necro), and it's a nice thing to do for those dead times at the GE or Daemonheim (broad arrows that is).

For RC, I'd just do ZMI till you can't stand it, then do TD's/frosts till you can't stand those etc. Just switch it up a bit. Not sure which one is really most "efficient".

cannoning the cave crawlers in the Polly slayer well is the fastest effigies in the game.

Hmm I'm not too sure on the other skills, but since I'm 99 crafting I can tell you this is what I did to gain the last few levels for free:

Daily craft assist - 30k free xp

Buy 80 battlestaves daily from naff in Varrock, buy air orbs from the G.E. craft them into air battlestaves, and sell back to the G.E. - 11k free xp and some $$ profit (need to have completed the elite varrock diary to buy 80)

41k free craft xp daily right there :)

You can also use crafting potions to boost your level by 3

The main xp was from cutting emeralds though. It's very expensive, but very fast :) extremely useful on a bonus xp weekend. I gained 2.7M crafting xp on the last bonus xp weekend by cutting emeralds

Hope that helps a bit

TDs will probably only make in the realm of half the RC exp/hour as ZMI, but they have significant advantages too. Effigies give you random skill exp in other stuff when you get them, which ZMI obviously won't, and they're also a pretty fantastic source of money.

If you're after RC exp right now at the expense of all else, ZMI is the way to go by far, but if you're okay with taking it slower and getting other exp and money (= more buyable skill exp) on the way, TDs are great. Frosts are also a good monster to mix it up with, since they also have high cash/hour and effigy droprates, and are almost semi-afk compared to TDs.

As for crafting, as others have said, buy battlestaves off the GE as well. You get 100/4 hours that way if you always have an offer in, and the gp/exp vs exp/hour is still extremely good compared to other methods. I like to just let them pile up until I have 1.5k or so and then go on a crafting spree.

Trouble with effigies is that they are maybe 60k xp each at 99 rc, but the xp reward drops fast. At 82, the lamp is only worth 27k xp and you can't get the xp for opening them. Tds are great if you need cash, sure, but I'd ZMI to 86 and just open your 91 rc effigies from there to get higher. Also, pengs.

Cannoning cave crawlers is comparable in rc xp to ZMI with an assorted heap of xp thrown in. From Vexn's guide:

The Figures:

75k Melee Xp an Hour

25K Constitution Xp an Hour

30k Defence/Range xp an Hour (Iron/Steel titan)

130k Range Xp an Hour (Cannon)

45k Summoning Xp an Hour (All charms)

~4k Herblore Xp an Hour(Herbicide)

140k Random Xp an Hour(Effigy + Lamp)

Total Xp/Hr gained here. 415k with yak, ~450k with familiar.

Total Cost: 1.4m with Yak, 2m with Titan

Thanks for all the advice guys! :)

So am I right to say that of the 140k random xp per hour, about 70k of that or so is from the Lamp? This is really interesting, I'll definitely consider it for RC.

Speaking of RC, with the new bank update, is it efficient to use a Lurker anymore?

cannoning the cave crawlers only achieves the fastest rc xp if you are already 99 rcing

i'd say stick to zmi, but also throw all your dragonkin lamps at rcing

This, and to your question above, the dragonkin lamp is up to 49ish k xp. You get 15k + 20k + 25k + 30k from opening the effigy, for a total of 90k xp.
