roanlo
I currently use a Gorgonite Spear P++. Since i'm only going to be doing Team dunges from now on, I want a weapon where i can hit a bit better (when using slash and crush obviously, Spear covers stab). I'm considering any of the following:Longsword (71 Stab, 101 Slash, 114 str)Battleaxe (96 slash, 90 crush, 120 str)Rapier (67 Stab, 54 slash, 96 Str)2H sword (145 slash, 121 Crush, 141 str)Keep the Spear (110 stab, 61 slash, 97 crush, 128 str) I pick those (except the 2hsword) because they are single handed, and because I'm the one who mostly keys/tools the dungeon, if I find a kite shield, it could help me a bit. Also, because they all have 2 attack styles. The two main friends I dunge with have use a rapier or a 2h sword, the girl using a rapier having better combat stats (10 so attack/defence levels).Because of this I was thinking either a Longsword or a battleaxe would be my best options. I'm not sure whether stab or crush (the two styles where one is missing from either weapon) is used more often, so I would like some help, Please. green9090
2H is the best weapon for damage per second with berserker ring. Spear is the best with no ring. Battleaxe is largely considered the best one-handed weapon, though pro keyers seem to be moving away from tank ring in favor of gatherer because failing skill doors is one of the leading causes of keyers getting KO'd (run through a room with t11 mage and ranger among other miscellaneous monsters and then get hit a 600 by the door, and you've got a good shot at being dead). I'd opt for the spear if you key, because it allows you to keep gatherer on and still do good damage. 2h is also great even without zerker on and a lot more useful for when you aren't keying. Hedgehog
Either stick with your spear or use a 2h with your ring set to berserker. Sniped
roanlo
My ring atm is on gatherer. How does that help with the failing doors though (unless i read the sentence wrong)? I wouldn't change my ring off gatherer if I got another weapon, because i'm quite content with it's special (and I don't really want to spend too many tokens on it). Although, people tend to use two ring classes right? That's what the quick-switch is used for?I feel like changing, since I've had the spear for a number of months, so that would be between the battleaxe or the 2h then. If I got the battleaxe, what additional ring class would I get?
green9090
You can use two ring classes, but as a keyer it's a little annoying trying to switch them all the time, especially since you can't switch while in combat. The only way switching to 2h or battleaxe wouldn't be monumentally dumb is if you use a berserker ring with them- they're flat out inferior without it. The battleaxe, by the way, is significantly inferior to the 2h with no appreciable advantage if you aren't using a tank ring. The only exception of this is if you're comparing across metal types- primal battleaxe is only SLIGHTLY worse than promethium 2h, but a LOT worse than primal 2h. Gatherer and artisan rings say right in the description that they reduce damage from skill doors by a certain percentage. SirIzenhime
when you fail a door with the gatherer's ring on, the damage the door would have done to you is halved. Take the Thorny Vine door, instead of hitting say..a 300 on you, it'd hit only a 150 if you had the ring on. As for you question, it's basically been answered. For general use, the 2h and battle axe (when using tier above the 2h choice) are both good, depends if you want 1h vs 2h. Spear is good if you don't use any combat rings Another thing to consider, are you just going on random teams, or do you have set people you dungeoneer with? If you have set people, you could choose a weapon based on what your team mates use. If everyone else is using 2h and battle axes, it'd be a good idea to keep your spear, or even go for a rapier, so you can stab monsters they'd have trouble hitting. roanlo
On the ring part: I haven't read them in a while, so all I remember from the ring classes is getting extra ores/logs. But thanks for that. Ok, if I put it that I didn't care about being an "elite dunger" and doing incredibly fast floors (so no spear), what is more important? Stab, Slash or Crush? Because really I do little killing, besides a guardian or monolith which i have to do, and the boss if no more rooms are left. I'm sure you're probably thinking i'm an idiot, but really I want to change weapons (shouldn't have listed the spear on there >_>), so my preference would go to the longsword or battleaxe. I can only wear Goronite. Another thing to consider, are you just going on random teams, or do you have set people you dungeoneer with? I said in the OP the two people i'm mainly dunging with have a rapier and a 2h (person with rapier having better stats), which is why i'm split between the choices. Cause rapier still isn't that good, and neither is the actual player with the 2h.
green9090
If you don't care what's good or bad, DON'T ask for advice. It's so irritating when people do this. "What's best?" "<insert best thing>" "But I don't LIIIIIIKE that!" "But it's best" "Lol I don't care." Go do whatever you want then. Our opinions obviously mean nothing to you. roanlo
No your just losing your temper there.I am asking for a better weapon, but more so as an alternative. You've said battle axe/2h, but spear is better for such role. So, I'll just stick with the Battle axe then. Thank you...

la la la
Battle-axe if you want 1-handed by far, although 2h + gatherer ring for keying is better IMO.

Deal with it. 2h if not keying, baxe if keying w/ tank ring. Thats end of story mate. You are 73 DG. Grimy_Bunyip
random aside: is spear + gatherer better than 2h + gatherer?no.Spear only with hex (and maybe surgebox I guess)because you can't quickswitch rings in combat, and usually you're still in combat after you snipe the first few mages. less so with surgebox because typically you deal with the forgotten warriors last, and you can safespot them pretty easily once that is the case. And of course, you'll never have trouble quickswitching to gatherer if you're in the process of harvesting resources. If you're keying, this is a different story I suppose, but I never really find gatherers ring to make that big of a difference when I key. green9090
random aside: is spear + gatherer better than 2h + gatherer?I think Grimy misunderstood your question. You're asking if a spear with no ring bonuses will do better than a 2h also with no ring bonuses and of the same metal, right? Yes, it will. That's kind of why everyone used spears before class rings came out. ghjkl
No 2h is better. Before rings came out most of the pros still used 2hes, especially in the old dge.

After using my primal spear for a while, I'm even considering going back to prom 2h.
