The fake box trap

Grimy_Bunyip

Recommended Posts

allow the purchase of fake box trap.

Once set up, it pretends to be a shaking box trap that any player can "loot"

If looted, it explodes, releasing the "pungent excrement" of a large predatorial beast, scaring away prey and making the poor sap unable to catch monsters for a period of time.

A player will remember where they set up their own box traps, a bot will be less likely to tell the difference afterall.

the animation of a player covered in "pungent excrement" may or may not be necessary.

objective:

a) Pwn Chinchompa bots

b) Epic lulz

of course this can be rinsed and repeated to pwn other sorts of bots.

imagine a fake green dragon (that obviously looks not fake to a non-bot, but has the same right click options)

and makes you do 0 damage to green dragons for a period of time if failed for example.

make the fake box trap distinguishable, but not by color, since it's easier for bots to distinguish color than other properties.

Perhaps make the fake box trap shake more violently.

anyways cmon, even if u hunt while watching a movie, u should remember where u set ut last 5 box traps ;o

Last time I heard about bots they were using item ids to decide where to click. I got absolutely no clue on how that works other than that it doesn't depend on visuals.

Also I set up only 4 traps, 72 hunt ftl. But yes, I do remember.

wildy ditch -> wall seemed to have pwned bots, so i figured they went on what the name of an object was.

Some bots use names/colour recognition, some use ID. - But both changed (there still exists an "wildy ditch" object in the runescape cache if you look into the data) during that update.

However don't you ever misclick? - Especially if names are the same, having your screen turned sometimes the engine decided that you click another item than you expect.

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

I love this idea, I think its genus!

How about these too...

For the ring of stone, when a player is in stone mode, you should be given the same right click options as ore rocks. Could be funny for luring bots.

Adding a 'Fake' tree?

Or maybe you can imbue the fake tree/ore/box trap with runes to either teleport or attack the player chopping/mining/looting it.

Support by the way... :D

Sadly, the most popular bots actually inject themselves into the client and have full acess to item ids, among other things... I think I saw a screenie somewhere.

EDIT: Now if only Jagex could rotate every item id every update.. That would be awesome (and probably horrible for them trying to keep track of everything).

Now that I think of it, why don't they seed a pseudo-random number generator with their current ids?

Now that I think of it, why don't they seed a pseudo-random number generator with their current ids?

because their database would have to be completely recalculated.

For runescape every item is "identified" by its number, your cleint (the java thing you open) just reads those numbers which the server provides, and then displays the correct items there. A change of a number would mean that this is a completely new item. And depending on how the data is stored, this can have strange consequences areound runescape. (Ultimatelly haveing to reparse the whole database).

A lot of bots will be able to recognise objects based on their ID, not simply colours/names etc (not all, but some). Maybe if Jagex could add a random factor to the same object, which would make the box suddenly be filled with excrement (pleasant, by the way) then bots would be well and truly screwed :D

A quick side note...

The next time Firefox tries to correct 'recognise' to 'recognize' or 'colours' to 'colors' i am going to be forced to slap a [garden tool].

Lol...and we shall then build a wall that seperates east and west....seriously. This idea is pretty dumb, seeing as it more or less makes hunter annoying for people who afk it (namely, everyone). I like the box idea though, maybe have something that you can set up to distract bots, namely, anything female....
