green9090
What would you use it for? In general, no. It's an extremely niche shield if you can afford DFS, which is almost always better. Articultural
It's better than a DFS in every single Defence stat except for Magic, gives slight melee accuracy boosts, no ranged attack penalty and has the highest soaking rate for any shield in the game. Where, other than places where Magic defence is neccessary (and, as a result, you'd use an Eagle-eye or Spectral) is a DFS better than it?
SirIzenhime
the cks and dfs are extremely close when at bandos, if you use the CKS, you loose the magic defense against the mage minion, which is very important. Where as the CKS has more range def as well as soak. For DKS, yes the CKS is better, it has much higher defense and a soak...however...it drains extremely fast there as it drains fast with a lot of monsters attacking you, as well as draining when it soaks supremes hit. An obsidian shield is VASTLY more cost effective. It's much cheaper to use, still has a decent soak, and gives a str bonus, which helps killing supreme faster. Uzamak1
Anyone here own the Dungeoneering shields and think they are under-rated? Tempted to get an Eagle-eye Kite over a Chaotic Crossbow

Where, other than places where Magic defence is neccessary (and, as a result, you'd use an Eagle-eye or Spectral) is a DFS better than it?List some places you need ONLY melee/ranged defense where you wouldn't use a defender. Go on, I'll wait here. For DKs, CKS is good, so that's one valid use. For Bandos, you really don't want to trade 15 magic defense and 7 strength for 17 ranged defense. The more defense you have in a stat, the more difference it makes, and Bandos gear ends up giving you a pretty high ranged defense bonus when all is said and done. 15 magic defense is a significant chunk, on the other hand. The soaking is also essentially worthless, you don't get it over 200 very often at all. 7 strength is also more useful than people tend to give it credit for. That's a nice little chunk of DPS. Edit: though, as SirIzen pointed out, it's true that chaotic anything degrades extremely fast at DKs, so if you can get away with DFS and still SS enough, that's better there as well. I don't do DKs enough to have a good idea of how difficult that is. GlowinRedM
Alright thanks. Are any of the shields "worth it"? The corp beast, is, well, just a corp beast. Obtaurian
Alright thanks. Are any of the shields "worth it"? EEKS for Nex. That's about it, really. Farseer for safe PVP if you can't afford an arcane. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
Quyneax
For some people it is more likely that they have 200k excess tokens than 35/45m to leave invested in a shield, so for that reason you could get EEKS/Farseer. Quyneax
Rapier - crossbow - maul - staff - whatever you like. Arcstream, scroll of life, scroll of cleansing also, perhaps even before chaotics (certainly before staff). Gem bag, coal bag, antipoison totem, bonecruncher, herbicide are all convenient but ultimately unneccesary. Spirit cape is good in safe pvp (since you would use a unicorn to heal). The sneeker pet is cute.
