I'm wondering if I can do waterfiends efficiently. I have 80 attack and strength, and 89 defense. I just remember that not being adequate last time I played, I always got destroyed when I went.

 

However, if this isn't the best way to get crims without going broke, I'd like to know. I doubt it's changed, but you never know I guess.

 

Also, if I do go to waterfiends, how stable would a z spear be? I'm short of cash (always), and I don't want to lose a bunch on it once I'm done.

what is your magic, prayer and summoning level?

Do you have Karil's or D hide?

Do you have an EE, or SGS?

 

The Z spear should stay stable as far as I can see, I don't see any reason why it'd start dropping now.

78 mage, 71 prayer, 80 summ.

 

I have black d'hide. I *might* be able to afford Karil's, but I'd rather not.

 

I have EE. Not the elite task level EE though, just regular EE.

You're lowish mage level combined with only having D hide could cause problems.

Your best bet is to probably protect from range while there, using a bunyip+scrolls.

Use piety as well to increase kill rate/lower damage rate. (I wonder if prayer pots will even be buying with Bonus xp weekend coming up though :unsure: )

 

You'd want to get a better weapon like the spear before upgrading to karils there.

 

Have you unlocked the fairy ring in the ancient cavern? If so, definitely do the above, banking is basically not an issue that way

Wouldn't piety make waterfiends a loss though? Especially considering I'm not going to have particularly fast kills with my levels.

at the prices prayer pots are right now (assuming they're buyable atm), the drops should be able to cover them pretty easily.

Try both ways (with piety/without piety), and see which you prefer.

If you get Karil's/zspear/fury etcetera, with a bunyip, piety and prot range (use a soul wars cape), you should be fine. I find waterfiends pretty fun, too.

It actually might just because of the increased kill rate (getting faster food drops)

But once again, you're lowish mage level will probably tear you up in normal void. Try void first and see how the trip goes, if it's too much, switch to d hide.

Take a couple pieces of food btw. With what you have, you're very much relying on food drops, which sometimes just don't come.

Take your Enhanced Excalibur (even if it is only the 200lp one)

He wasn't saying it's a loss for everyone, just for the OP.

 

OP, since you care about charms, not profit, you should use piety. You will probably even make some profit.

He could still bank.

 

I always did that when doing aberrant specters. leave the cannon in place. Go to bank. tele + run back. So you lose a minute or 2 per inventory. Not a big deal.

 

The point is merely that there doesn't need to be a loss. Clearly there is nowadays enough money on the floor to make black dragons a profitable task.

Demons* and yes you are correct that they will profit. However I think waterfiends are still a little faster charms if you have to bank with a tort. 1 minute per inventory is a quick 10% loss in kill rate.
