the film is just showing America's constant pessimism, and the last part is vital to the plot. while i agree that a director should not be bound to the book's every word, the plot should be the rough skeleton, and the beginning and end msut be the same, otherwise its just a load of bul

And I guess I just wanted to tell you, as the light starts to fade, that you aree the reason, that I am not afraid, and I guess I just wanted to mention, as the heavens will fall, that we will be together soon if we will be anything at all.

I don't think anybody has mentioned "Remember the Titans." I would say that it is my favorite sports movie ever, but it transcends that genre so much, it is hard to say that it is a sports movie at all. Powerful. :D

I remember vaguely liking the soundtrack, but I don't know if it was anything special or not.

I watched Broken Flowers...I understand the reason why it dragged on, and why it ended how it did, and I understood most of what happened and why...But that doesn't negate the fact that it was painfully boring. And kinda pointless aswell. Too arthouse for me. Not enough story, not particularly good dialogue. Save this movie for people who like this kind of indie film, for me, no thanks. Not my taste.

I think the soundtrack killed the most powerful moments of the Gladiator. :?

Really? I felt that the Gladiator soundtrack was one of the most effective. Especially the song "And now we are free"

"Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"

I don't know which song was at what moment in the movie. But the music I didn't like was that kind of epic sound with those woman humming that makes it sound all mysterious and so. It's way overdone and makes it sound so empty, they've done it at various important scenes. One of them was at the death of his wife and son.

Ah...that was the bit I meant :( I guess it's down to how the music moves you personally, for me it really did.

Scott started using that kind of music at various 'moving' scenes ever since Bladerunner, after that it has been copied a lot. It just annoys me, it's a good thing that people do like it though.

i dont like it either, i remember making a post about it a while ago for a movie, i think it was lord of the rings. you already get that epic feeling during certain parts, and sad feelings during others, the music is just kind of in the way. if it added to it, it would make a difference. its just so generic, if they switched it up a bit, like putting dreary music in a part that is very happy, but might have a dark side to it. then that would accentuate (or something) the sad part of it, but you still would get the full effect of the happy part. for example, at the end of return of the king during the king ceremony, they sort of do something like it when they show frodo and sam. they have been through so much dark and depressing stuff they cant really be happy, even though it pretty much worked out. if they showed everyone really happy, but had the most depressing music they could find, it would have made you think a little more. yeah, the evil is destroyed, but what was the cost? maybe i would be the only one who would enjoy that though.
