Farming timer Additions

The farming timer is awesome for power farming. Which I have been doing recently with the bonus xp weekend approaching and 14 Herb-lore levels to go for 90.

 

Given how the farming skill works the Allotments, hops, trees, flowers, herbs, compost, and most specials are great. The Plant then uproot model is an exact match to the game. (growth times on white lilies are missing though)

 

The bushes, fruit trees, and the following specials Cactus, and Calquat trees have a second model of farming, they regenerate. Thus the farmer that is low on seed stocks or who is power farming herb-lore ingredients, may not wish to replant the these plots. The regeneration time is not the same as the growth time. In the farming timer, for these crops how about adding a second button "pick" and counter of how many of the produce has regenerated.

 

Thus a cactus takes 9+ hours to grow and regenerates 3 spines in less time then it takes to grow an herb 1 1/4 hr. This would show a green bar for the growth, then a counter when picked Starting at 0/3 in red. then 1/3 (in yellow) after one regeneration cycle. Finally a Green 3/3 when fully regenerated (This is shown when the plot is fully grown for the first time as well).

 

Fruit trees and bushes would have 0/6 and 0/4, respectively, when picked.

 

The Jade vine needs a check health/prune button. After this is pressed the jade vine starts/restarts it second growth cycle towards wild (when it goes wild the button disappears as it is not needed). It is normally a 24 hrs to go wild.

 

 

So data needed for the calculations, that I know:

 

White berries take 1/2 the growth time to regrow 4 berries. (I believe this holds true for all bushes but have not checked)

 

Cactus takes 15 minutes per spine

 

Pineapple trees take 30 minutes per 1.

Papaya trees take 30 per 1.

Palms take 30 per coconut.

But the picking xp SUCKS so even if you are low on seeds it is not worth the time/effort to run these plots just to pick them, which makes you wonder is it a good addition to the guide?

 

eg 10k xp for a palm health check versus 41xp for picking.

If ya low on seeds yer time is better spent not running useless plots.

Palm seeds are about 100k. Not everyone can afford that, times four or five, effectively making 400k or 500k, plus other tree expenses. Sure, herbs might pay for some of it, but I'm pretty sure that herbs don't break the trees even using palms (and maples, I'm assuming).

 

I don't use the farming time myself, but I think it is a good addition.

Yes, picking xp sucks, but if you just want the produce quickly, you can gather it faster then if you replant.

Yeah would be quicker and cheaper to buy in msot cases.

Take papaya (one of the only ones that you CAN'T get from anything but farming)

1.8k per fruit

40k per seed

 

Unless you need 22+ papaya for something that is gonna make 0 profit its cheaper and faster to buy the fruit than waiting on a tree.

the papaya's also drop from Jungle Strykewyrms, 8 noted a time if im correct ( ! only do-able when on task ! )

Looking at the farming timer code, this would just take more time than it would be useful. Although it's a nice idea it would take a lot of time to implement, I'll keep it on my 'list of things it would be nice to do', but I'm focusing more on other bigger projects at the moment. ;)
