Twiddly
Hey guys, I made this little video tutorial showing how you can get the most bang for your investment while doing Barrows. By "investment" I mean food, prayer potions and runes. When doing Barrows it's inevitable to incur some expenses. The key to cutting those down is the amount of time you spend without banking. In other words, how many chest attempts can your inventory last you? In this video I show you what I perceive to be the most cost efficient and profitable method. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wu3EVmrJPaQ
Dazzuh
Hey, although this is a fairly good method, it's not the most cost effective by far. Also, why no D'hide for fighting Ahrim? Especially without prayer. The most COST effective method would be doing 1 chest per inventory, using this method i use NO prayer potions (Even with Dharok tunnel), I use Black Salamanders and Harralander Tar (Under 100gp per cast) which hit over 200 commonly, lobsters and a Home Teleport, recharge at altar, use my canifis portal, bank, repeat. Trips take on average 7 minutes, so it's also not bad timewise. Or if you want to stay for multiple trips, take sharks and a few prayer potions but still use black salamander, this will be cheaper and probably quicker than your method also as you don't need to heal with guthans, of course you might only get 3 or 4 chests out of a trip, but using house with altar/canifis port, banking and running back takes about 2 minutes if that. Don't mean to blow your method out of the water, it's still one of the better ones I've seen but I've been trying all different methods since around 2006 and these are the best. Winarr
Personally i've found using salamanders/ice ancients results in my supplies lasting longer. Also If you have an EE its amazing down there.
SwreeTak
This is a good tactic, even though there are most cost-effective ones. Thank you for posting your little tutorial here though. It can for sure help out a few tiffers ^^ Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak

bedman
The funny thing is that the more you spend, the more you will profit (NET, so taking into account these costs), at least untill a certain point (I.E. no use for using pvp armour). Salad
I find that Wind Surge is faster then Slayer dart, but I use Staff of Light because of it's effect and it has better stats then an air staff, but it also means I have to buy lots, LOTS of air runes. Dazzuh
Why isn't everyone on the Black Salamander bandwagon yet? O_o are people still unaware of it's awesomeness? Currently not active on RuneScape.
Hegelstad
This is not very efficient to be honest. KC doesn't care, its not worth it. Efficient = - Ice barrage all brothers with extreme magic, arcane stream, EEE, ahrim or battlerobes and staff of light. - Elite Void, rapier, claws, spec restores, extremes, turmoil. Enjoy. My lame drops:6 Effigys1 D Med - 1 D Dagger1 Verac's Helmet - 1 Guthan's Platebody

Yes, very COST efficient. Look up the meaning of efficiency; this is speedy granted, not efficient. Looks like you've tested this method also judging by your stats... >_>actually that is the most cost efficient. Faster chests=more items=more money in less time=more efficient. DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers ringsQBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow partsCR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size....It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty). Unhesitating
To add to the above stuff, how is it cost effective if you're taking 5 prayer potions? Be cheaper and more efficient and use none.
Quyneax
If you want to, you can do runs with 0 gp costs (bandos, whip, defender, using prayer/eee and simply recharging by walking to an altar). If you want to get fast chests, you use max mage gear with ice barrage, overloads and stuff. If you want to get the highest profit, said fast chests is superior to cheap chests. Generally, max mage > salamander. Void melee etc is a good method, ever so slightly slower than mage, but I find it more convenient, you never have to switch.
