Runecrafting Guild

Recommended Posts

Currently, your RC Guild guide states:

"WIZARD KORVAK

This less than sane wizard can convert the omni-talisman from wizard Elriss into either a tiara or runecrafting staff. He can also replace lost medium abyssal pouches for free, and repair any others that need it. However, repairs will cost a small fee. Large pouches will cost you 9,000 gp, giant pouches - 12,000 gp. He also sells large pouches for 25,000 gp and giant pouches for 50,000 gp."

To the best of my knowledge the only pouches he repairs are the giant or large pouches. Thus, if your medium pouch degrades you might want to "lose" it because he can't/won't repair it.

I thought only large and gaint could degrade.

In all ym years i've never had a medium degrade

Did you do any hardcore crafting with the pouches BEFORE you got the large/giant pouches? I want to say it's only your highest pouch that degrade, but of course, look at my RC level.

I was RC-ing last night, but only have the RC lvl to use a large (not a giant, yet). I had the large, med, and small in tow. At one point in time the large decayed. I paid the 9K to repair it and within 2 more trips, the medium decayed (the large was still OK from being repaired). I can't remember if the large was full when the medium decayed or not, but the net result was an intact large, a decayed medium, and an intact small. I somehow managed to 'lose' my decayed medium while standing in front of Wizard K (imagine the luck), and got it repaired by getting a new one, but he will not repair mediums (or smalls). I had also always thought that only the largest pouch in your inventory decayed, but last evening showed that to be incorrect.

If memory serves I was lvl 24 rc when the abyss came out and did a few runes just to make med useful. At the very least I know I was no more than 30 rc because it wasn't until slayer came out I got all skills 30+ and I know I got slayer to 30 before rc.

So I did 20 - 25 levels with just med and small and can't recall ever having med decay.

Also with only the highest decaying I think its simply giant decays faster than large and dark mage repairs all pouches. So by repairing giant when it decays you never have large decay. But my large certainly decayed before I could use giant (that i had banked), rcing this weekend giant decayed but not large ever.

In fact in all the usual places and the slightly obscure ones too I can only find rswikia citing anything at all about medium pouches decaying; but even they say only the largest pouch on you can decay.

Strikes me as rather odd that the apparent occurrence of this was with a large pouch in use, when all evidence shows only the largest pouch in use will degrade and equally that no fansites mention it at all despite it being something that has been in-game what like 5+ years.

Equally the fact the Runecrafting guild doesn't offer repairs for small or med kinda suggests they don't decay in my book too.

Dang - now I wish I had saved it (the decayed medium). Maybe it's rare enough to have been worth something. (Not) ;-)

In any event, it really isn't worth continuing to flog this dead horse. It was a suggested change to the RC Guild guide, I'm not going to lose sleep over it. I'm also not going to worry a whole lot whether anyone believes that I had a medium pouch degrade, or whether anyone even believes it is possible for a medium TO degrade. Thanks for the discussion and the effort you put into researching the whole thing.

Until we can get confirmation on this, we cannot change anything. If you happen to get a screenshot of it, please post it! I'll leave this open for now.

  • 2 weeks later...

The med can decay (did have it a lot of times), but I thought the smallest couldn't. I think I did read that somewhere at runescape.com but I am not sure.

If someone would point me in the direction of how to make a screen capture, I can provide a picture of a decayed medium. (But not for long...)

Press the Print Screen/Sys Rq button on your keyboard. Open Paint and press ctrl+V and you should have your screenshot.

Then upload it to an image sharing site such as http://imgur.com/ .

Thanks for the info - it worked perfectly. Here are 2 pictures, the first is a picture of the dialog box as I clicked on each of the four essence pouches (with the dialog enlarged for readability); the 2nd is a picture of the four pouches (again with the pouches enlarged to show detail). I also have the original (no enhancements) these were cut from if someone still doesn't believe.

So back to my original comment of so long ago...

In the Runecrafting Guild section:

I believe it should be noted that Wizard Korvak only replaces medium pouches and will not repair them if they degrade. However, since he replaces them for free, it is easy to just drop a degraded medium pouch and have him replace it.

I've visited Wizard Korvak and he'll sell or repair large and giant pouches, but he'll only replace medium pouches (free of course). He doesn't deal with small pouches in any way. I'll add this quick tip to the guide. Thanks!
