Jad on Slayer task

Johannas

Recommended Posts

Never killed or really looked into killing Jad, but just got it as an assignment.

Will use a full slayer helmet. I do not have access to ancient curses yet but do have extremes/standard slayer kit

Can someone tell me if i should range or melee? And is the guide in the AOW up to date?

Additional info/links appreciated.

Thanks

Tried and failed!

Next time I will be victorious!

Absolutely range. With 3-4 range potions, normals, and the berserker prayer, you would have enough to stay poted through waves 30-60. Have guthans for some good healing on the 180s

Kiting the 360s and melee-ing would be faster, if you're good at it.

I'll usually range them, take an overload dose and heal with EEE.Just bring like 3 ranging pots if you don't have overloads, and EEE to heal.

Ranging them with 91 range, overloads, and eagle eye prayer on half of the time took me like an hour and 10 minutes, three overloads, and like 6 prayer potions. I didn't need any healing at all with my EEE, even after the 500 overload hits. I used Kxbow.

Kiting is attacking and running away. So while the 360 is in the middle of it's magic attack, run to it and melee it once, then step away so it can't melee you. On it's next magic attack, do it again until dead. If that didn't make sense, you could google it or find YouTube vids on it, just search melee fight caves.

Can't link a video, typing on my phone.

i done this the first time the other day, and in terms of ranging the fight caves our stats are pretty similar. I usd a mix of d'hide and prossy armour, with a ccbow (but rune cbow would have been fine too).

As long as you can pray switch for Jad, and you take out rangers + birds quick you shouldn't run out of brews/restores if you take ~9-10 brews and the rest restores. EEE is a must too, to save on brews

Do not bother with guthan's, you have more than enough defence that the only hits you'll really take will be from 90s on the later waves where you're mage praying. I only have EE and even that is more than plenty for healing purposes, EEE will make health not even an issue for you. You can try meleeing, but if you haven't done it before it's a bit more complicated than ranging. If you do range, I'd use eagle eye to speed things up.

My personal setup matches the Jad guide on tip.it's activity page almost exactly, it's actually still fairly effective imo despite being a bit outdated (EEE, 3 range pots, diamond e, 6+2 brews/restores, rest ppots). This is the most straight forward method and if it's your first time doing fight caves I'd go with this. However, if you're looking for the fastest method then definitely go for melee. Like Blake said, you'll need to kite the 360s because both their melee and mage attacks hit very hard so you're forced to stay out of its melee range. Ideally, the setup I'd go with here (judging from your stats) would be standard prayer setup (prossy top, verac skirt, sw cape, etc. etc) with a whip. Your inventory should contain 2 ext sets, 2 spec restores (maybe more if you want to go even faster), claws/dds, EEE just in case, 3+1 brews/restores for emergencies, then ppots to fill the remaining space. If you aren't comfortable meleeing Jad, then you can load your ammo slot with diamond e and remove 2 ppots for a rcb + ext range. However, if you choose to melee him (obviously faster, but imo a lot more work), you'll need to be very sharp with your prayer switching. Right after he finishes an attack, default to melee pray because his claw swipe is too fast to react against. Be prepared to switch over to magic (listen) or ranged (look) but I'm guessing you've already read about that.

Anyhow, good luck!

EDIT: for the record, I highly recommend getting curses for the next time you do Jad if you choose to range. Given his ability to hit over 900, you can deflect a lot of damage back (but with your prayer level, it sacrifices piety in melee situations so curses doesn't work as well without 95 if you decide to whip).

Links broken..

What do you mean you don't have the berserker prayer? Its like lvl 60 or something.

Anyway, I think curses > prayers, because around 100 damage will be done to the 360s per kill JUST from deflects

Haha, saw that one the screenshot thread.

*insert in first post* When you get to jad, make sure to have range prayer on first, because there is no indication of it until it hits, unlike the magic attack where you can hear it as it's launched.
