February 1, 201313 yr Banned because... I don't think Led Zeppelin did it right. The bow got wrecked. Bows don't get wrecked on Violins/Cellos, so it should be possible for them to not get wrecked on other instruments like Electric Guitars. :(I can answer this one. The short answer is that violins are not guitars and violin bows are built with violins in mind.The strings are positioned differently: all six of an electric guitar's (usually steel and surprisingly sharp) strings are parallel, while a violin's (Nylon? Organic? I'm not a violinist) are placed at an angle so that the bow can sound each string individually. You could play an electric guitar like a violinist or a cellist, but it just wouldn't sound as good.Furthermore, violinists don't strike their strings with the bow, while Jimmy Page does. ...Guitars aren't meant to be played with a bow.
