Nexaduro
Lee, we've gone over this, you earn merits during gameplay for not doing stupid stuff and progressing missions, which you then use to buy skill levels. Archi, 1000kT per research point CONTINUES to make it completely useless and impractical. And by extension, doesn't that mean that Researchers could spend their points on funded research by NPC patrons and end up with ten times more money than a Settler? Stealing research would be inadvisable, and likely very difficult in our sector... The only ones who might have significant research unavailable to us are the Kalinka, to whom it would probably be an act of war. 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? Leiana
Do I even have a single merit? (I think not, but I shall ask anyway) Don't bother stealing information unless if it's vital and you put it back where you found it perfectly (such an example would be like stealing a diary and returning it) and the person/people do not realize and/or learn of you stealing the information. (Which I have done many, many times without being caught, just not in Space) And Nex, depending on what it is and what it is used for, I'll consider giving up a few research points. As long as I get kT out of it (I'm good at striking win-win deals when it comes down to money and stuff. Not so good at political debates though, or opinionated debates in English)

No, since there is no way to convert backwards. What would you propose? Arch, you got it reversed, according to your table a bread roll costs 20 million kT. It helps to provide quotes, as I have 4 conversion tables(for various things) and the currency conversion ratio was not a table... http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. Nexaduro
Archi, I honestly don't know. All I can say is that it needs to be more accessible, even in the original Space no one but myself, Retech and Stork did anything much, and I don't think Lee could've managed any of the puzzles we've done in the game's history. They can be really hard. I would suggest an option for merit to research point conversion, maybe somewhere between 100 and 500 per? 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? Nexaduro
Yeah, but you didn't USE them for anything. Anyways, is anyone here in favour of a 100 merit per research point conversion? With additional points for research-grab missions? 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? Leiana
Nex, please also remember that out of everybody who plays as a character on Space, I am most likely the youngest player here. I am not currently capable of compleating very complex mathematical equations or complex logical questions. Nor am I capable of compleating complex english language arts questions. Archi, would it cost me any research points to make my weapons capable of materializing as described from an earlier post?
Nexaduro
Ross, Mather, Retech, Earth, and myself were all playing this when we were, what, thirteen? Fourteen? Jehosaphat
Ross, Mather, Retech, Earth, and myself were all playing this when we were, what, thirteen? Fourteen? This forum is pretty young.Yes, but you must remember - the Tavern originated from Hegemony, which in many ways was like DF - it filters out the people who aren't willing to argue, calculate, or just plain BS their way through problems. So despite our age, the majority of Tavernites are more... shall we say.... different. Also, I think Ross may be a bit older than we think. Leiana
Nex, I still believe that you are all older than me. I'm turning 16 in June. And you're probably 17 (thats a guess!). Anywho, back on topic. Nex, what do you mean by a 100 merits per research point. Do you mean one research point = 100 merits, or the other way around?
Icuownage
There are a few puzzles Archi has which if I really stopped and looked at I could probably do. Also Archi what happens to my 1900 merits? Do I keep them if I make another character? Can I donate them to someone? Or are they lost. Retech
Due to the immense difficulty of the research puzzles, such a low merits to research point conversion would basically push the puzzles further into obsolesence. Icuownage
I think that was what Archi was kind of hinting at doing. Everyone kept doing puzzles and not paying attention in game. Nexaduro
Another good point, Icu. Lynx, I just turned 15. You're a year older than I am. Also notable is the fact that I am one of maybe four Tavernites who weren't brought here by Hegemony. 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? archimage_a
The puzzles were originally so people had something to do in between sessions, and for repair work. Ok ok ok...Here is my revised plan. Technobabbles = Techpoints...Ergo, everyone gets 3 per session, with the exception of people who burned theirs.Technobabbles carry on doing the old 'Get it done faster, stronger, better' thing as well.People who do the puzzles get extra techpoints, not Technobabbles. If you don't use the Technobabbles they DO NOT stack for next time. Researching 'because you can' is frowned upon, as is 'Everyone stack up on this research' and 'I spend the next 5 sessions Technobabbles on project X, back in two weeks'. Persistant and Pointless research will result in burned Technobabbles. So please do not feel that you 'have to' research every session. Ico, you can keep them to generate a new character. You can convert them, 1 to 1, into kT. Lynx, yes. I was brought here by the Admin and arguing that there was a need for a forum. =P http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts. The_Mather1
And up until now I thought you were one year younger than me...Well, Lynx, you're still the same age as Rocco. Nope, wrong again...You're as old as ESE2, though I could only make him get on here once. So yeah, you're the only taverner from 95. Arch, using all technobabbles on research you actually have a reason to do (plans, necessity or usefulness (upgrading stuff that you don't need to upgrade but feel that could do with some improvement)) is ok, right? Nexaduro
Mather, Dusty is in his twenties now I believe. He can prove it, too, he's one of the few Tavernites to have posted pictures of themselves. Other than you, of course. Rocco has the mind of a strategist and the attitude of a whiny kid. That seems about consistent with the '96 Tavernites. 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? The_Mather1
Dusty is the second oldest taverner I believe (I think he's one year older than Archi), the oldest Taverner would have to be Doom, whom I believe is two years older than Dusty.EDIT: Wrong again, Dusty is two days younger than Archi. Nah, you have the mind of a strategist and the attitude of a... I've got no example here, you've got too good an attitude to fit any such group...
