Zaryte bow

Featured Replies

So there was alot of hype about the new bow that came out with Nex- The Zaryte bow. It has a massive range power and requires no arrows but deals large amounts of damage. The update came out and then I never really heard about the bow again.

Where would this bow be useful to use as it is a 2h bow I'd imagine the places are limited but it must be useful somewhere? ..

handcannon is a better weapon than zaryte bow, it just costs a lot more money to fire.

Karils also has better damage output, just slightly lower accuracy and firing range, and more expensive to fire.

In short, the zaryte bow is a weapon yuo want to use when you want to save money.

Of course to save money, you must first put in a few hundred million GP into the weapon first.

And hope it doesnt crash in price.

hand cannon base damage output is about 1.195x the zaryte bow

karils crossbow is about 1.11x the zaryte bow

the zaryte bow does have higher accuracy though

it is about 1.14x the karils crossbow, and 1.12x the hand cannon.

The accuracy increase is trivial though. Handcannon is always better.

zaryte bow is only very very rarely better than karils.

You'd need your accuracy WITH the zaryte bow to dip to around 50-60%, which practically never occurs during slayer.

Only monster I can think of is mithril dragons, in which case why the heck are you ranging.

Low melees comparatively to range, at which point miths aren't worth doing anyways.

I would think it would be useful in pvp, as it requires no ammo. Can't think of many other uses for it tho.

This possibly. With the exception that it takes up your protected item slot. So you can't really use a great spec weapon in conjunction with it.

But in all honesty, i think you would get the bad luck of being smited out and lose the bow before you use it long enough that you would have racked up the bow's price in ammo for other range weapons.

But, as i believe Grimy said a few weeks after the bow came out, the only advantage that the expensive bow has, is that it will save money. A item of irony >.>

The price will fall, right now it is just a status item. It will take time, but it will fall.

It's a lot easier then that for an idiot to sound smart on the internet.

That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying.

True, but it's not going to fall so much as to make up for the price of arrows.

That will never happen.

Hmm, Is there any way you can alch and range or something like that?

Is there any two skills that you can combine with ranging? (similar to the low alching when barb fishing)

zaryte bow doesn't use arrows, just to clarify.

Chinning nechs gives range exp, hp exp, low prayer exp (urns) and very decent crimson charms. It also breaks even or profits depending on your luck. Bladewing had an awesome guide before he got banned, it might still be somewhere in the AoW.

You can also skill (alching/fletching) while you cannon but I don't see why you would. What skill(s) do you have in mind?

As in the price of buying a zaryte bow will never offset the price of buying arrows for other bows.

you still need to recharge the zartye bow, don't you?

You do, but it doesn't use arrows, it works for ammo like the crystal bow but degrades like barrows.

So that being said it is cheaper per shot then Karils and Handcannon, which is ironic because it has lower DPS.

to clarify, it degrades like a chaotic.

barrows was a pre-tower of life update, as is crystal bow.

In which case there is a separate compartment where the data of the degradation value is stored.

Post-tower of life items such as dragonfire shields, chaotic weapons, effigies, etc.

Have their data stored on the individual item.

A 75% degraded barrows item, will stack with another similar 75% degraded barrows item in the bank.

Dragonfire shields, chaotic items, effigies, etc. will not.

As they are a post-tower of life item.

Good to know, any clue as to what exactly about that update caused them to chance the mechanic for degrading items?

Edit: I'm curious now and you're the most likely person to know.

They added a feature into the game engine where items could store values instead of the character.

This was announced and first implemented when they released the tower of life like 5 years ago.
