Collective
Then I have no further suggestions. The hosts file is just a text file and all you need to do is open it in notepad, add the line of text I gave and save it. Changing the DNS servers should also be quite easy. Read this. wahoo
you could try doing a tracert to runescape.com, go to cmd and type tracert runescape.com, to find out how you reach the website.
MasterOfThePuppets
Ok.. i went through the steps Aldeon gave and it seemed to be doing stuff so yea.. However.. Runescape still does not work - gives the same message.. I don't understand why because the frieken site IS NOT under maintenance.. Im getting really mad now because i havent played runescape in about 3-4 weeks.... Please, someone, IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO BLOCK WEBSITES FROM BEING ENTERED, AND IF SOMEHOW RUNESCAPE HAS BEEN BLOCKED FOR ME, HOW CAN I UNBLOCK??? Im stupid with computers but if this is a possibility then it may be the answer... Any more ideas anyone?? Please get back to me on the blocking hypothesis  Looks to me like an ISP problem...I'll continue trying to help you, but I've never seen anything like this before. I will try to write you a batch file to patch your HOSTS file to set the DNS for you, but that might take me a bit.... Meanwhile... a) Are you an administrator on your computer? B) Is it possible your parent(s)/guardian(s) have put an internet filter on it? (Unlikely, unless it's trying to fool you into thinking that it's not a filter) c) Have you called your ISP about this? d) What happens when you type 216.180.254.134 into your browser's address bar? dutchyg
a) I can go into administrator (yet i am generally not on it as i was told once that if not neccessary, playing on soemthing other then admin is better) B) I doubt my parents put a filter on it - they dont know how and wouldnt put it on runescape c) No, i havent called them d) It goes to runescape website but the DNS Request not processed message shows up everywhere (in essence, doesnt work.) Ok. It's a problem with your DNS, no idea why. I'll get working on a batch file to fix it.

Collective
A batch file is a file that contains a list of commands that, when the batch file is run, are performed as if typed in the command window. I'm assuming MasterOfThePuppets is planning on using this method to update the hosts file with all the different RuneScape server addresses. Since you are apparantly unable to change your DNS server manually, try typing this command in Start -> Run: netsh int ip set dns local static 199.166.29.3 none Type it exactly as it appears (infact, copy and paste it). If websites stop working then type this command to put your settings back: netsh int ip set dns local dhcp Again, copy and paste it into Start -> Run. If the RuneScape site still doesn't work then try this command: cmd /C echo 65.39.250.68 www.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts And again, copy and paste it EXACTLY as it appears. soulman01
I've got a sneaking suspision that's it's the browser that's causeing this. Go on a friends' computer and download the runescape client. Then burn on to a cd or dump it in a memory stick/flash drive to transfer to your computer. If that doen't work, try IE or some other browser. DO NOT use a thrid party runescape client as these can steal your password!
dutchyg
Well, other browsers dont make a difference. But, i will try the download the client thing. I have a friend whio plays it, a few actually, maybe they can help me out.
chriz2001
What happens if you put the address of a runescape game server into the address bar. You will have to turn off javascript first or you will be redirected to the runescape main page. To turn javascript off in firefox, go tools -> options then choose the web features tab then uncheck the javascript box. The go to this address http://jolt12.runescape.com/rs2.cgi?low ... =runescape
MasterOfThePuppets
Put this into Notepad, save it as rsdns.bat, and double click the file. Note, you must do this as an administrator. echo. 64.90.181.244 runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 82.133.85.216 www.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 69.22.158.241 advert-web.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 69.22.158.241 create-web.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 64.90.181.252 hiscore-web.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 216.180.254.136 password-web.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 64.37.71.207 news-web.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 64.37.71.203 jagex.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 217.138.42.34 www.jagex.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 64.37.71.207 masterb-web.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
