  1. First, keep in mind my answers to ZoneAlarm questions will be from years of experience with computers and security, not experience with ZoneAlarm. OK, then. [*:v27ig9bz]They are parts of the Windows subsystem. ZoneAlarm won't let you change them because that would cause problems. [*:v27ig9bz]That doesn't matter. It should, depending on your settings, ask you about them when they try to access the internet. [*:v27ig9bz]I don't know...it depends on your system. For the most part, anything that needs to get things from the Web (MS Word, IE, Firefox, Online Games, VirusScan and Firewall updates...) should be allowed.
  2. Take a screenshot of it, post it to http://www.imageshack.us, and put it in here.
  3. Sounds to me like someone with physical access to the computer is doing it. Got any brothers or sisters?
  4. Download SIW and use that for System Information.
  5. Put this into Notepad, save it as rsdns.bat, and double click the file. Note, you must do this as an administrator. echo. 64.90.181.244 runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 82.133.85.216 www.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 69.22.158.241 advert-web.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 69.22.158.241 create-web.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 64.90.181.252 hiscore-web.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 216.180.254.136 password-web.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 64.37.71.207 news-web.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 64.37.71.203 jagex.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 217.138.42.34 www.jagex.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts echo. 64.37.71.207 masterb-web.runescape.com >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
  6. Theres many scenarios whereby you might want to change IP address. Its not our place to judge. Depending on your ISP you might get a new IP address if you merely turn off your system and routers for an hour. Then when you re-turn everyhting on it will aquire a new IP address. OR... you might have a perminant IP address given to you by your ISP, in which case you will need to contact customer services in order to get a new one. He never said he had a router... Also, changing IPs are generally referred to as dynamic, and nonchanging IPs are referred to as static. If your ISP uses one these terms, that's what it means.
  7. Why not? Mine has over 8000 lines of blocked domains Any chance of you posting it?
  8. Actually, it's something involving a bit of Javascript and frames. But yeah, it won't work.
  9. You didn't happen to use any Sony DRM CD's lately, did you? I noticed something about Ares, might be nothing, though.
  10. Ok. It's a problem with your DNS, no idea why. I'll get working on a batch file to fix it.
  11. I have an external harddrive in a USB 2.0 enclosure. Works like a charm.
  12. Ah, I misread the first post. I thought his monitor might be going fuzzy. :!: Change your resolution using this: http://www.download.com/Resolution-Chan ... tag=button
  13. Messenger Plus? As in, yahoo, msn...or what? Also, no respectable company would bundle this. It is clearly incredibly virulent.
  14. http://www3.sympatico.ca/gtopala/about_siw.html I love this program. It has served me very well, and is an excellent system information tool.
  15. That might just be your problem. You could: a) Get a new scanner, one that is Windows XP compatible B) Run the stuff in compatibility mode.
  16. Post some stats about your computer and internet.
  17. Reboot your computer, turn the monitor off, wait thirty seconds, turn it back on. Does that fix it?
  18. runeload is mine i made it mirc i use and no one has sent me any scripts.. i mean this is completely weird Post the source code of runeload.html
  19. Do you have a linksys router? They have been causing no end of trouble for myself and many, many others.
  20. Yeah, my 'friend' told me to go to a "very funny" website... And ofcourse i'm that stupid so I checked it out, that was a mistake. Did you download a video codec? That caused it for me. That infection is no fun to remove...I got about half the infection, so I can't use these tools, since I've got no idea what I had/have. I can't replicate how I killed it. Also, after following his instructions, is Internet Explorer's homepage still changed?
  21. Maybe you had a router problem....that's odd, though.
  22. Looks to me like an ISP problem...I'll continue trying to help you, but I've never seen anything like this before. I will try to write you a batch file to patch your HOSTS file to set the DNS for you, but that might take me a bit.... Meanwhile... a) Are you an administrator on your computer? B) Is it possible your parent(s)/guardian(s) have put an internet filter on it? (Unlikely, unless it's trying to fool you into thinking that it's not a filter) c) Have you called your ISP about this? d) What happens when you type 216.180.254.134 into your browser's address bar?
  23. no need to be ashamed, hardly anyone knows what it is (even adults). It's basically a program made by a dutch person named merjin (merlin in english). Please move HJT into somewhere else. ============================================= Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT. You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it hjt Move HJT into this new folder please, This is important so please do this prior to anything else please ok before you fix the o2 line, has your desktop wallpaper been changed? are you getting fake windowsupdate messages (telling you to download spyaxe, spyware sticker, pcgaurd etc? if you have post back, and if you don't still post back. omg! thats exactly what happens! Theres a fake windows message in my system tray, it goes: "Your Computer is infected!" and all this other stuff about clicking here to protect my comp And it downloads spy striker onto my computer. I think i got this trojan or spyware or whatever it is when i downloaded this fake codec. They call it "Vcodec" Adaware and spybot S&D can detect it but they cant get rid of it. Nothing wrong with my desktop but there are gambling popups and adult friend finder ones too. It also changes my homepage. Ouch. I pity you. I got that, but I someone broke it (completely accidentally, too...yay) If the homepage won't switch back, it's a browser helper object, but I forget which one.
  24. Can I have some context? As in, what EXACTLY were you doing when the problem occured?
