Announcement for RSOF QFC Tags...

Hey, all... Remember pulli23's thread "Add qfc code tags" and Tripsis' post which contained the words...

 

I plan on getting an announcement up about this soon, I'm just waiting for.... something ;)

...from late in that thread? I've been seeing a number of QFC's copied in lately that aren't properly linked to the RSOF, and end up requiring several additional hoops being jumped through in order to get at the thread which a given user is pointing out for one reason or another. So, since this finally made at least me <insert-your-hilarious-choice-of-dark-emotion-here> enough to start this thread, could Tripsis and/or another TIF Admin finally post up an announcement about it? :huh:

 

Also, on an alternate note, could we get a button on the Posting Toolbars for the QFC Tag? It would really help in both posting faster, and getting more people to actually use this special custom QFC linkup. :pray:

Actually we haven't gotten the "something" I was waiting for yet :P I guess it just got pushed back in the list of priorities.

Hi again... Sorry for the almost-a-month-later resurfacing, but I think I just saw a reason to move it up in the list of priorities. Just have a look at the "200,000 Members!" thread which you started. We've already got people causing others issues by not "QFC Tagging" the RSOF QFCs, so they don't get turned into the useful links that they're really meant to be. And there's already many previous occurrences, which I just don't have the time (after 11:30 PM PDT, GMT-8 here) to go find right now. :(

(p.s.: BTW, the handling for the "topic" tag is also a bit clunky. IMHO, titles should be allowed in the syntax of the identifier that it handles.)

I'm not trying to patronize anyone, damnit! I'm just seeing posts that are causing an obvious need of this getting done, and therefore trying to make the push to get it done before it stacks into a nastier molehill. That, and the lack of a button for the QFC Tag is making things a bit clunky, which is probably leading to some of this mess. :angry:

We've already said this is a good idea, and we're going to do it....so calm down. We've survived without it for the last, you know, ten years...so I'm sure no one is going to die if we don't have it for another little while.

We were going to add another feature to the QFC tags, which was why I was hoping to wait, so that feature could be explained in the announcement. Though it seems like we're not sure if that feature will be implemented anymore so I suppose I can go ahead with the announcement.

Oh, [bleep]... I see exactly why that would be handy, as it would avoid dead links most of the time. Although, wouldn't that potentially require coordination with Jagex, in order to avoid accidental hogging of bandwidth? :ohnoes:

 

Ah well, I'll give up on poking further for now, and I'll definitely look forward to seeing that additional piece of the feature come into being. But I'll definitely be back at the end of the month to check in on what's going on with the QFC Tag stuff. Until then, I'll see you all in-game and/or in other threads. :-s

I don't think that's possible without a serious server-side modification being added to the forums. :?

 

 

 

And on other notes, what finally spurred the early announcement about QFC Tags? Honestly, you've left me insanely curious, confused, scared/disturbed, and puzzled. I was standing back until May 31st before I was going to talk anymore about this, in order to leave time for Tip.It's Forum Admins to get more into place. :wacko:

I believe the above reply should answer your question ;) We most likely won't be implementing that feature anymore. So rather than potentially waiting many more weeks/months for an announcement, I went ahead and did one.

Alright... lol, your reply does indeed answer my question. Sorry to hear we won't get the validation feature. I'll admit I was looking forward to it. :anxious:

 

On other notes, how's the toolbar button for posting QFC's coming? If whoever (Yes, I've forgotten who might be doing this.) is making it happens to be short on ideas, I think I posted an idea back in the previous thread about QFC's. :)
