watermelon and strawberrys or just strawberrys

Is it worth the cost to have one watermelons patch?

That way I dont bring 15 pineapples to every patch and the supercompost from the watermelons makes up the cost of the seeds and I get extra xp.

I want to know from experienced farmers if one strawberry + one watermelon is a good setup for allotments

Its definitely the most fun due to the variety of colors. It is not however better exp.

If you are going to do alloments, plant all watermelons. Though it will cost a bit(the seeds are ridiculously cheap atm) the consistent good xp is worth it in my mind.

Meaning it would be better to do both watermelons for exp. Just switch to lunars for the fertile soil spell and never worry about making super compost again.

That's up to you, just do watermelons in both, fill the bins with 15 of them and note the rest with the leprechaun. The seeds cost should more than be covered by seperate herb runs (if you're using jujus because of the 5 min timer, if you're not using jujus do both at the same time).

Err, making the compost doesn't take that much time (and it gives a minor amount of exp as well).

If you really want exp - you should probably go look at trees.

Anyhow, if you farm all the herb + flower patches (5 herb, 4 flowers) + the four bush patches - I find that I can bring six watermelon seeds and just make some supercompost at the end.

If you have a magic secateur - you can usually gather 15 watermelons from one allotment patch alone.

However, if you're just into farming exp - go ahead and just farm the watermelons. It's pretty cheap for pretty decent exp. The profit from running herbs will be more then enough to cover the mediocre costs of the seeds.

thanks for all the input. I'm not a uber farmer with jujus and epic tree runs (cant even access jujus yet) I just do allotments and I was wondering if watermelons are worth the cost. And since they are only 1.6k Im thinking I should buy as many as i can as fast as I can. Thanks everyone

I never said it takes a long time, but fertile soil has the benefiit of saved inventory spaces as well as the ability to supercompost a patch that you've already placed a seed in. That combined with the lunar teles being tailor made for farming runs makes it a no brainer to consider.

I don't think I've farmed allotments aside from when all you can farm is potatos/onions

TBH I mainly get my farming xp from herbs and fruit trees and calquats. Papaya/calquat trees are pretty good xp, and they're cheap. The seeds+ 10 pineapples costs less than 40k. Calquat seeds are under 15k each usually and I've never had a calquat die on me either even though I don't pay the protection price. Basically one snap run assuming no deaths pays for a days worth of papaya trees and possibly the calquat too. Also you get free pineapples from dell monti and 40 pineapples from arhein anyway, so you shouldn't need to buy pineapples from the GE.

I totally agree - if you're speed farming. (Or just not farming allotments)

You carry two extra slots of items (nature + astrals)

All I'm saying is, if you're already farming the watermelons - take an extra minute or so to make them into supercomposts.

I'm not saying go out of your way to make supercomposts but if you're already growing something in the allotment patches - why not?

Let's not argue seeing as we agree ;)

Just throwing this out, sweetcorn is a little under half the exp of watermelon for almost 1000x less cost (last time I checked). Though I'd say by the time you're farming passed level 60 allotments can be a little slow, it's probably a bit overkill to be sinking gp into watermlon seeds when you could buy various tree seeds instead.

I mean watermelon should average around 5k exp a run, and you're spending about 35k each time. You could around the same amount on papaya seeds (+600gp to ensure health) for 6k exp each check. Sure it takes longer though.
