LitterBug
practical uses? Also, setups that are useful? I have deflector btw IIRC, the void mage set is pretty useless.I think the bonus only applies to the accuracy of magic attacks and not the damage. You should be better off using Ahrim's unless you're switching styles of course. But I couldn't think why you would? If you're really poor and you can't afford Ahrim's - I can see it being useful for bursting rock lobs (since you get prayer bonus from elite void). However, if you're bursting - you're probably not that poor. Cacmypants
Deflector makes void mage superior to a full set of ahrims, just repace the void top with ahrim's top. Otherwise full ahrims is superior to void.

I was thinking of grabbing myself a chaotic staff and going pking with void + ahrim's top + defl + cstaff... is that an even remotely smart idea? lol Follow my road to 5.6/Gold Reaper/True Trim - DAT BLOG

Are you totally sure about that? I keep hearing stuff about void mage and I'm never quite sure about it... Void Mage + ahrim top: ~60+ m accuracy with a 30% boostFull ahrim: ~100+ m accuracyI don't think the void boost applies to the raw stat, otherwise void mage alone would make very little sense. As for pvp, you're probably better of hybriding than tailoring a set of gear to max out magic, though you would be hitting consistently high and often, people can counter it if they're prepared. In pvp I believe the chaotic staff is mostly used by mage pures who do not want to raise their attack for a damage boost (it has no attack requirement). I'm not completely sure about this. Not that if you don't have a void set - you can have a mage's book (+15) and a barrow's glove (+6)I'm not entirely sure how your magic level factors in for accuracy but I'm under the assumption it's not that much. Otherwise - you would see people w/ a void mage set at rock lobs rather then ahrim's.
Quyneax
Void usually (with range and melee) works after the raw max accuracy is calculated e.g. after str and gear bonus are multiplied. So void mage is pretty good, but then again there are rumours it only works on one target (if using multi-target spells). It's probably the best hybrid gear at low defence.
