Well I haven't actually killed them at all - and if I would I'd be using soul split. Most people just Buthorpe the task as it pretty much sucks at every level imaginable.

I think hey are worth doing them at lvl 90-100+ combat, but you won't be getting them as tasks at that point...

Meleeing with soul split would still be better. You'd hit higher with melee, and soul split would pretty much take care of your healing needs.

99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving.

Most people who get the task can't use soul split.

 

Either way, at most you will need to do 3-4 tasks of them before you move onto a higher master, taking a exp/h hit and ranging them with protect range isn't a horrible thing.
