Barihawk
An Arbalest is so large that it requires four oxen to pull it...I don't think that will be a two-handed weapon. Currently, the Cho-ko-nu in the game is Karil's crossbow. In fact, compare Karils bow with a google picture of a Cho-ko-nu and they are almost the same. http://www.darksiren.net/stuff/PierreMo ... balest.jpg (* is that picture) i dont think it looks like it would need more than a foot and hand or two... though theres many arrows i see but 1 arrow argh i cant find any good pictures than normal crossbows lol That is: a) A Cho-ko-nu...as I said before. Google and and look at what you see: Forgive the antiquity, this example is almost 2000 years old. It was found by googling "repeating crossbow", and most of the results look like what you posted. B) An anime drawing. Sorry, I just do not find that a reliable source. c) An arbalest: The arbalest was a late variation of the medieval European crossbow. A larger weapon, the arbalest had a steel prod ("bow"). Since an arbalest was much larger than earlier crossbows, and because of the greater tensile strength of steel, it had a greater force. A skilled arbalestier could shoot two bolts per minute. Arbalests were sometimes considered inhumane or unfair weapons, since an inexperienced crossbowman could use one to kill a knight who had had a lifetime of training. It just could NOT be any less powerful than Karil's crossbow. At that power, it should have a level 80 or 90 requirement. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Believe me, nothing except a battle lost can be half so melancholy as a battle won. -Sir Arthur Wellesley
Lord_Muijs
That would be my suggestion for a weapon which requires lvl 80 range to wield, but i wasnt gonna suggest it until "eastern lands" wouldve come out... karil's crossbow = Chu-Ko-Nu
Evrae
Lets get away from the mistaken use of the word 'Arbalest' (after all, whats in a name?) This guy came up with a idea, and described it, then you go on about seige bows just because he got the name wrong. What hes referring to is the traditional medieval crossbow, with a foot stirrup for loading. The name is immaterial. On the subject of the weapon itself, i doubt you could make it realistic ( as you seem to want, from the fact that you suggested it!), and still have it work. It was intended as a static infantry weapon, not for going toe to toe with a giant *bolt hits giants chest* *giant staggers, then keeps on coming* *crossbowman rapidly puts foot in stirrup, winds back the string* *crossbowman takes aim, noticing the giant one foot away* *SPLAT!!* i dont see it :? But maybe in castle wars, where you have backup - thats where it would really belong  I have to get practically naked when I'm cooking bacon.I may be immature, but that made me laugh! Zonorhc
Well, TECHNICALLY the only ranged weaponry you'd be using on the field without at least some degree of cover or concealment would be thrown weapons, bows or slings. A crossbow takes far too much time to reload (realistically) to be used in anything other than a fortified static position or a formation. Besides, giants are fleshy, and that bolt released from a heavy crossbow probably would have torn off an absurd amount of flesh. And yes, if an arbalest (or any other heavy, steel-armed variation on a crossbow) is implemented, it sure as hell is going to be more powerful than a lever-action repeater. Remember that a repeating crossbow has to have a wooden bow in order to maximize the speed potential, since the only way to draw the string is with the lever. We're talking the .50cal of the medieval period here. Ts_Stormrage
the last 2 posters exxagerated the way i wish to see the new weapon (heavy crossbow, arbalest, mini ballista, w.e. its called) it does massive damage (hence the +2 as described in the first post), but is considerably slower... it could very well use a 1-shot-then-switch-weapon tactic.. but thats beside the point people also fail to see my suggested way of smithing normal bolts on p2p worlds... what do people think about that? dgd1788
maybe some modification could be suggested considering that the level to use is 30, my suggestion is that they have more high level ranging equipment.
