Increased posting times

Recommended Posts

I've had problems in the past 2 days or so, with increased posting times.I have to wait ~30-40 seconds to actually get past the post button. No it's not my internet.I've never had this problem before.

I actually think I've noticed this as well. Specifically while using Firefox (both 4 and 3.6). I will edit this message if I have problems, if not, then it took a while to post as well.

Edit: It posted right away. Nonetheless, I have encountered problems before such as in Blogscape. I assumed it was either my computer or Firefox until just now.

I've moved this over into forum updates and suggestions since it's more of a forum thing than a website thing. I believe it's related to our recent server move and that our Technical staff are working to resolve it.

I'm having the same problem with Google Chrome. However, when I reload the page in a new tab, it shows that I have already posted. This means that the post has been posted and that it takes a while for the posting interface to redirect to that for some reason.

EDIT: I've noticed this is mostly affected by the size of the topic. If you post in a rather large topic in Forum Games (like 4k+ pages), then it takes a while to load your post, even though it's posted instantly. It's usually rather quick when it's a shorter topic.

Everyone, I would say this is due to up to three things:

  1. Ever-Unavoidable Internet Lag :(
  2. Something probably at the server end not sending back whatever TCP/IP and/or HTTP message that keeps the computer and/or browser on the client end willing to wait for more data. <.<
  3. Some bozo's router probably blocking packets that were meant to reach you and/or the forum server. :x

Any which way you put it, all you can really do is have patience with these forums. If you attempt to keep on pushing against it, you run the risk of a duplicate and/or multiple post(s) plastering along the page. In my opinion, Killerred005 has at least found a trick to check if it posted or not, and the rest of you would find it handy to follow suit for now. ;)

Heck, now that I'm aware of it, even though I haven't had it happen to me, I can at least keep my eyes open/watching in-case it does happen. :)

Seems to happen when posting new topics as well. But it seems to be off and on. I remember posting a new topic in a board with less traffic and it was posted instantly, but then again it was a board with a very little amount of topics in it.

So far: if you post a topic in a forum with a lot of topics in it, it'll take a long time for your page to refresh automatically going to the post you made. However, it is posted instantly. So the input you made is there. The same thing goes for posting in rather large topics. You post instantly, but it takes a while for it to redirect to the post made.
