Optimal barrows killcount

I remember reading some empirical evidence regarding an optimal KC on the official forums but I can't remember the details. Does anyone else know about this?

 

The results were taken from a good sample size and were pretty conclusive.

Barrows profit comes from the items, so completing trips fast as possible is the way to go. This means your KC should be six - as in, the six brothers.

Bolt racks are currently 420 each. The report I read proved that optimal KC (a single-digit number) massively increases the yield of deaths and bolt racks in a way that makes getting it totally worth the small amount of time that it takes.

It's definitely not worth taking the time unless it's literally one extra kill, in which case you would still be able to complete a run in under 5 minutes (this is assuming ice barrage or chaotic rapier with void). Barrows is pretty bad for money as it is without lowering the rate at which you complete chests.

It's not just lowering the rate at which you complete runs. Your return also increases.

 

As I said, the evidence was pretty conclusive. If nobody knows, I'd encourage research.

If you really want to get KC, I'd recommend the 6 brother + 5 monsters. That will guarantee that you won't get a Dmed from the chest, which is quite a slap in the face to get. :P

Everyone says 0 is the optimal, my mate with long high end setup experiences says 0 is the optimal. I'd say 0 is the optimal.

Killing 5 monsters takes, say, 50 seconds, and it'll consume prayer to make that faster. Plus that your overload will run out. 50 seconds is worth about 20k at barrows at max speed (1.5m/hr approx). That's about 50 bolt racks, or 70 death runes or so. So yeah it could be worth it, sure. But you can't use Guthans to heal for example, as that's too slow.

Qeltar did some research on this for whatever his runescape website was called I'm afraid I've forgotten what his fansite was called but somebody else will probably remember and be able to supply a link. But his was basically at what kill counts items come and in what amounts you'd have to draw your own conclusion in terms of profit.
