Magic Leveling ?

Hello I am wondering what the most efficient way of leveling magic is nowdays.

As it stands with the current market value's I will loose roughly 48gp per ' High Alching - Yew Long's '

Is it stil a decent way to level up magic? If not what is?

My stats are 76 magic, I have access to Lunar.

Superheating gold ore is highly recommended with the use of goldsmithing gauntlets as it gives good smithing xp at the same time and doesn't lose that much money. Alternatively you can use the lunar spell hunter kit for faster but more expensive experience. When you hit 80 String Jewellery will net you a very nice reasonably quick and AFK way to train magic for only about 5gp/xp.

with the current price of nature runes, loseing money from alcing is unlikely. go look it up on rs wikia.

anyway, some other options to the ones listed are humidify with steam staff on vials. low effort profitable xp. however i recommend string jewellery when you get it.

besdies nature runes lowwering is price and a few other things, magic training is basicly identical to what it has been like for years now.

Would you care to explain this abit further, This is all new to me. It would be very kind of you =)

Superheating gold ore's wouldn't that mean I loose 251gp (102-214-139=-251), per superheat instead of 48gp per high alch... ?

You have a gold bar to sell at the end of it. But the main advantage of superheating gold ore is the gain in smithing experience as well. Trust me it is well worth it for the smithing requirements for various quests e.g: devious minds and the void stares back.

Superheat gold ore is around 120k xp/hr in magic and slightly more in smithing (with gauntlets).

High alchemy is approx. half of that (60-65k xp/hr) however, alching will make profit. I made 60 gp each alch earlier this week. Superheat will cost money, but are worth it for the additional smithing xp imo. I just did both to get the req for void stares back.

Sorry I dont fully understand, superheating an item gives 75xp (this includes the smithing exp also I presume) high alching gives 65xp, how can there be a 2x more difference in xp in the two? (before using Gauntlets)

Just to make sure, you are talking about the level 43 spell 'SuperHeat Item' right?

Part of the difference is how many you can do per hour. You can super-heat quicker than you can high alch.

A good way to get you're magic up fast is smithing steel bars

1 you buy iron ores, coal, nature runes (103+434+139)= 676 "it is best if you mine the iron ores then you would me making a not bad profit (434+139)= 573

supper heat them into steel bars and sell them = 643

2 Another good way is if you have access to the crafting guild, you bring around 1000 or 2000 nature runes and you head to the crafting guild with (a pick, a necklace mold, a fire staff)

you mine the gold ores, you smelt them, you craft them into necklaces then high alch them (270 gp). thus you make a pure profit of (270-139) = 131

*EDIT: (This tip is for F2P players)*

Neither of these options are good for getting magic up "fast". Superheating gold ores is much faster than superheating steel bars and gives much better smithing exp. Superheat gold until 80+ then either do string jewellery, plank make, or hunter kit depending on your income level.

One thing I like to do is maging slayer tasks. It may not be the most efficient, but I surely find it fun.

Of course you can't mage all tasks, such as green dragons, but many tasks are mage-able, especially metal dragons. I am not sure about the money factor, but I can tell you you will not lose much, if anything. Slayer is often based on luck, and you could lose a small bit or even profit millions. I also do not know the xp rates but it is much more fun than just alching in my opinion.

Maging black demons with fire surge isn't very inefficient I think, compared to meleeing them for slayer. You're talking a ~15% loss of killrate (30% primary weapon dps lost, 60% of the kills from your cannon) and about 1k casts per hour at 130+ xp each (average hit over 200 including accuracy), costing you some 875 casts at maybe 800 gp each. About 5 gp/xp I'd say.

high alching is still pretty decent for magic xp because it is cheap, but superheating would be faster.

How can you craft the bars into necklaces in the Crafting Guild? I didn't think superheating could be used for that.
