Today I received an email from Jagex which stated that my account was found offered for sale somewhere and that it would be banned if this would be deemed true, at the bottom there was a link to validate my account. I wanted to make sure the mail was legit before I click on the link and enter my account details somewhere.

To be clear, I have, and will, never put my account up for sale and don't want to see it banned either. I've checked the message center for my account on the main site and it didn't have any messages concerning this.

 

PS the sender was RuneScape([email protected])

It's a phishing attempt. Don't reply or go to the link.

Jagex have clearly stated over and over again they won´t e/mail you, any messages will come to you via the website message thing. Aka it´s a phising attempt as stated above

Yep, most emails that are from "jagex" are probably going to be scams.

 

Just a word of advise, you do sometimes get legit mail from the real Jagex (I've gotten one when I was recovering an account). If the link you click on has this green thing in the bar

then it is safe to enter your username and password. But only if it's in the place where you type in website addresses.

 

 

Slightly off topic but does anyone know what else Jagex may email you for? I know that they email you when you're recovering an account.

They'll email you when you're trying to change an email to another one.

Jagex does email you, but not about that kind of stuff.

Clearly a scam, don't click the link.
