I am going to try to do Nomad next. Will I be able to do it with my levels?

My combat stats are 85 attack, 84 str, 81 def, 84 con, 71 range, 87 mage, 71 pray and 68 summon.

Will I be able to beat the quest and how should do I do it? What gear would the best and etc.

you should really get higher range, probably around 85 and higher def, at least 85 defence.

prayer wise, should be fine. i didnt it with 71 too.

then just look up some guides, try both the kyatt and pillar method and see what works best for you.

best gear would be armadyl or void for the pillar method (i didnt do kyatt) with ruby e and diamond e bolts with range pots, prayer pots and brew/sup restores in invent, then fill up a bob familiar with more brews/restores

Yes you will, you can either range or melee really. Void deflector with an Armadyl chestplate and a rune crossbow with diamond bolts works, or full Armadyl with ruby bolts or variations on the theme. Alternatively you can use void melee and whip him.

i did it without void, using avas, black dhide legs, top, snakeskin boots, glory, barrows gloves, arma helm and zammy book at 88 def, 83 range so you its possible for you soon

A few tips -

 

-Try avoiding the 'special' moves he has - all but 1 can be avoided and it can end up saving you quite a bit of supplies.

-Use a spirit kyatt with its scrolls (after tort is out of potions/food) - That thing helps ALOT on Nomad.

So you suggest I train my ranged to at least 80 and my defence to 85 before even considering to give it a try?

Range is going to be a pain, but Def will be easy.

Any other methods to range than Chinning? I cannot afford that.

A few tips -

this ^ except for his main special where he drags you into centre, the others can be avoided with ease. watching a video guide will solve that one for you.

 

just go range slay with a cannon, or camp dragons or something, so you profit or at least break even while training range

I usually just range some certain tasks I get. Is that a viable method?

It's not a great way to train but it works. I beat him at 105 combat (not sure what ranged level, under 80 I think) without a war tortoise, with a kyatt + terrorbird. With another 6 spaces, it shouldn't be that hard.

I hear a lot of mixed opinions about it. Some say you need to be like maxed and some say it's not that hard. Well I will get at least 80 ranged before attempting it. Thank you.

hes not that hard once you understand what to do really. its just a question of knowing what to do when and getting all your clicks right

Each bonus you have makes him more forgiving, if you were maxed combat you could just walk in there and melee him and tank every special with auto-retaliate on, drinking brews every now and then.

I ranged nomad a few times and died every time. Eventually I got poed that I kept dying and went in with melee (zamorakian spear and dragon claws wearing tank gear). Killed him with rocktails to spare. For a melee based account melee can potentially be more effective. at the time my ranged was only about 80- at higher ranged levels im sure ranged is more effective at killing nomad.

the ratio is 3 brews to 1 sup restore, so fill invent/bob accordingly.

I tried to challenge Nomad anyways. Hit him like twice successfully taking a big hit every time. Then I died lol.

It took me several (at least 8, if not more) tries to kill him with my current stats (well, couple less prayer levels, maybe one less ranged level) - one or two of those were just learning how Nomad works, then I had to learn that I needed a kyatt and not just a tortoise, then I had to stop making mistakes, heh. I finally did it with a full tort & kyatt + 150 or so scrolls (I tried dismissing the tort and working off what was left on the ground, but I was way to slow; so I kept the tort till it was empty, then dismissed it and summoned the kyatt. (Make the summoning button thingy "take BoB" while you have the tort; clicking will fill your inventory with your tort's stuff - it helps to put it in the right order beforehand, so you don't wind up with a bunch of brews and no restores, or vice versa; when you summon the kyatt, change the button to be 'use scroll' or 'use familiar's special' or whatever, and spam-click that whenever you can). The kyatt *really* helps when you're doing this with a lower ranged level, though sometimes the game glitches and says that your familiar can't attack what you can't see; just move a few squares and try again, if that happens.

 

I would say, though, you probably need at least 75 range to take him on successfully, and as the others have said, higher levels = more forgiving of mistakes. Most of the time, at least for me, I didn't fail because I ran out of supplies or I was too slow; I made mistakes, and either died or had Nomad reset and had to leave and start over.

While range does work, the most effective way for me was to use AGS, d hide, and Brews/rests. I died probably 10-12 times before I decided to try the AGS and Brews and it worked great. I didn't even pull out the Titan pouch that I had brought. Before you go and train range till 80+ try meleeing with a Godsword and brews.

I did Nomad with 80 range.

 

Kyatt is a must. Really helps. I mean, really. I first brought 1 sup rest./3 brew set-up w/tort that had restores and brews. Waited until I used em all, and brought out Kyatt. Spamed the heck outta that spec.

 

I did nomad with neitz (e), blk d hide, fury, ava's accumulator, snakeskin boots, rune cross bow (w/broad bolts), and spirit shield. I had a bandos gs (which, if you're lucky with a good hit, can lower his defense).

 

The pillar method is really good. You can avoid the bombs and when he splits to 4. When he splits, go hide and you'll have an aprox. 30 sec breather to restore and get out supplies from your tort. When he freezes you, pot up with brews.

 

It took me a few times, but as everyone else says, once you get how he works and what to do, you'll be ok.

Edit: Should I do a couple of suicide runs to learn a bit about him so I wouldn't waste 300k for dying with a full tort >_>
