It's Super Effective!

Oh.

So, I learned something interesting. If you have cardiac arrhythmia, you're immune to polygraphs that measure stress-induced heart rates. Also, sickle cell anemia makes you immune to Malaria.

I'm an insufferable dick for making fun of the Running Gag in Korra...

I had this small idea to write a Cross Fic just to improve my writing. Madoka Magica/Legend of Korra was the crossing.

Anyone who has seen the former can guess what I was having in mind.

So I found an unfinished Rune Fic I had saved on another fansite, which was written in mid 2011. I really can be imaginative when I feel like being horrific, and my mind now is different from 10-11 months ago.

Prologue:

"Wait, I didn't mean to attack you!" exclaimed a man in panic as he made a futile attempt to flee, only to result in tripping over his bloodied monk robes. Vanira gave a scowl back toward her the man who, until several moments ago, was the hunter. Now, with his venom-tipped dragon dagger in her hand, she proceeded to progress towards her would-be killer. Of course, having no knowledge in the art of defense, and lacking any sort of weaponry, the hunter's role had switched to that of being a defenseless hamster that knew of its fate. To Vanira, she didn't exactly care as her cold, cruel eyes implied. Months were spent hiding in exile within the northern harsh lands, but that was to change with this kill; the feeling was pure pleasure.

"Please, spare me. I won't-"

"Don't bother praying," she cut the man's sentence off, as well as his left jugular vein in one swift motion of the dagger, moved it out and then proceeding to make another towards his rapidly-beating heart, covering weapon, clothing, and her own flesh, in crimson. Ignoring the gore, Vanira proceeded to loot the fresh corpse and strip it of any valuable resources that could extend her life within the burnt landscape. Five sharks preserved in leather, a bag of various runestones, and an unloaded runite crossbow seemed to be all that the ex-killer carried on him, which wouldn't last her only a week at most. "An unloaded runite crossbow isn't going to get me far, and I cannot wield magic well. Might as well only keep the clothing and food because there isn't really a whole lot to use here."

As she whispered that statement to herself, a strange object fell out of the second pack the dead man carried, slapping away the dust and ash on the earth where it fell. It was a bizarre, coiled item that had an enigmatic and darkly feel to it. Elastic, but looked sturdy and effective enough to fight with, perhaps even to the extent to kill. A slight, instinctive smile stretched slightly on Vanira's face.

Part One: Scorpion

It has been three months since Vanira was forced to exile herself into the Wilderness, but the perception of time was distorted to feel like years. In that time since, the fifthteen-year-old girl has gleaned traces of resources of food and wood, enough to live for awhile but not settle. Of course, she knew staying in one single spot was dangerous for someone so weak and fragile, knowing people worse than the mere "thug" were prowling around. While the strongest of them formed clanships to live farther north, there were still plenty in the middle and lower regions that desired glory and fortune. "So it's you, child" the bandit salesman with a faint smile, counting the number of blood-stained gold pieces, "you know, you could stay here. After all, we're both strays in these wild lands."

"No thanks," declined Vanira as she placed the whip on the counter. The bandit salesman's eyes widened at what was placed, showing a hint of intigue to it. Vanira didn't know, nor cared, that the salesman was more interested in how she obtained the item than thinking of ways to swindle the weapon from her.

"Where did you obtain this?" he cautiously asked, pointing towards the whip with his right index finger. Vanira raised her left eyebrow, catching onto the marketer's nervous attitude that was barely hidden. "Someone dressing like a saradominist monk tried to attack me in the east two days ago. I wanted to know what it is, so I figured it would be wise to actually come here since you're knowledgable in killing tools." The salesman shrugged, wiping the sweat from his brow. To confirm his fears, he looked to the bottom of the whip's handle for certain features. "To answer your question, Vanira" he spoke in a stark tone, "this weapon is known as an abyssal whip, a powerful weapon from an unknown plain. Obtaining something like this on the market would set you back a million or so, this tool is infamous for its power. Right now, I'm more concerned with the mark on the pommel of it." He pointed to a crest on it, which displayed a crimson scorpion holding a bow with both pincers. "You must run far north, Vanira" the salesman shook her arms, "immediately. Once they discover one of there members was slain in cold blood, they will proceed to to the hunt. I'll give you a few goods to help, but that's all."

Vanira was somewhat confused at the man's near-incoherent wording. From what she could barely infer, the scorpion and bow symbolized a sense of dread and terror in this area. While skeptical, she agreed with him nonetheless because he was the only one to offer aid in the dead lands since her exile. A few days later, Vanira left farther north, feeling the monster named exile was closing in and following even further down the dark path set by fate.

Maybe I'll redo it, but make the squick more meaningful than just to post garbage.

I think I might have that. I have some weird heart condition but I can't remember what it is.

Wait, what?

Also, that Rune Fic does look kinda interesting. My opinion on fan-fic: it's best if you only use the universe created, not specific characters from the universe. I'm not set in stone on this, but I think it's better to make your own story rather then hijack an existing one.

New Legend of Korra was good. Interesting that you can't metal bend pure platinum. I expected Asami to do what she did when she took the glove. Also good that they explained where the equalists got all their resources. It actually started to bug me right before cabbage corps got closed down. Asami will make a good bad-ass normal. Also interesting how the best weapon to use against the equalists machines are the equalist weapons themselves.

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.
[spoiler=The rest of my sig. You know you wanna see it.]

my difinition of noob is i dont like u, either u are better then me or u are worst them me

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

Seems like benders are all specialized against fighting one another. Pro bending in particular seems slow and defensive (Compared to the very fast equalist fighters. Obligatory Trope references: Mighty glacier vs. Fragile speedster), and none of them can fight at all without bending.

So I found out tonight is the series finale of House M.D.

Good riddance. That show has started to suck since 2009.

Also, Squab, the running gag seems to be everybody is losing their parents to firebenders.

I want to see Lin do a callback and say otherwise, kicking ass.

Anyone still amused all that platinum in the room rivals the amount real life humanity has mined in history?

I was thinking the same thing. Especially that whole wall being platinum. They also pretend like the ground and everything else in the room wasn't at least partially bend-able.
