wolfman1928
Hey everyone, I have not played runescape in probably three or four years and I am just coming back to the game now. I have never been a member but at this point in time I figure I mine as well try it out to speed up training and what not. If I become a member what should I do first? What should I train? Slay? Or should I train my stats up before I become a member. Yeah I know, I suck.
The Observer
You might want to do Lost City first for a dragon longsword. That's what I did. Then that can become your primary weapon for training. After that you can start doing quests and training your combat through Slayer. Before you can wield a dragon longsword, you need 60 attack first. I'd recommend training on flesh crawlers in the Stronghold of Security with your best armour and some food in F2P.
LitterBug
If you're planning on becoming a member - sooner is always better then later. When you start - if you wanna train combat, do slayer asap. You also want to start leveling magic/farming (magic for the teleports/farming for the herb runs)
wolfman1928
Alright, so I'll get attack to 60 then join and do the lost city, then unlock slayer and train that? Also, what is the best way to make money for a new member with these kinda stats lol. Farming?
ilovecuttingyews
I suggest reading Tipit's New P2P'er Guide (http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=new_members_P2P_guide.htm) as it goes over many of the basics. When I first got members, I spent a few days just running around finding new things and trying them out. I also waited until I was ~1000 F2P total but any time is fine for becoming a member. As for skills, I can't really tell you what to do first, but I suggest trying out all member skills and read up a little bit into what they're like at higher levels. Here's a short rundown of the P2P skills; Construction - Build your own house.Pros - Guilded altar, teleports, places to store your costumes / pets, a place to make and call your ownCons - Expensive. You can dump 10M into making a few rooms look the way you want, decide you don't want them like that and just delete them and start again (I've done that a few times already) Agility - Running in circlesPros - Higher levels give access to shortcuts and run energy recharges fasterCons - All you really do to train is run in circles. Some people enjoy this, but I personally don't Herblore - Potion makingPros - Very usefull (untradable) pots at higher levelsCons - Very expensive to train Theiving - Steal from NPCs / stallsPros - You can make money from stealing things like seeds, clue scrolls, and other lootCons - Doesn't make as much money as some other skills, and quite repetative after hours of looting the same NPC Fletching - Make your own range itemsPros - You can make your own wepons for ranging or alchingCons - Not much use since most items you only need 1 of which you can buy Slayer - Kill what an NPC tells youPros - Decent long term profitCons - To train you MUST kill what your master tells you to Hunter - Catch preyPros - You can catch your own range wepons (chinchompas) and furs, etcCons - Bot infested and most things are easily buyable Farming - Grow your own food / herbsPros - Very good money maker for the time it takes toactually doCons - Slow experience unless you train with trees which can get expensive after a while Summoning - Summon familiars to help woth everything from combat to firemakingPros - Super usefull. BoB's can hold thigns for you, combat familiars help you fight things, and skill familiars can help you train skillsCons - Charms take a while to gather and buying the secondary ingredients and shards can cost a bit much sometimes

If you do become a member, do lots of basic p2p quests and get to know your way around everywhere, p2p is a very big place.
Quyneax
In my opinion:1) Get members as soon as you're willing to give up your all-f2p status (if that doesn't mean anything to you, get members first thing - just one month to try it out).2) Do all quests you can do at your levels.3) Train all stats to level 10, then to 20, then to 30 etc.4) Do the next batch of quests.5) Now that you know the game, decide what you want to focus on. It can be money, total levels, a certain special goal (rare untrimmed capes, quest cape, taskmaster etc.) or soloing a certain boss. wolfman1928
Okay so I got members, first thing I did was lost city as advised and now own my very first dragon weapon. Second thing I did was kill a green dragon just for the sake of killing a dragon :D Anyways, i am completely lost as what to do next. Certain quests? And, for drop, what monsters do you think are do able with my stats?
jasignhagj
I was told Rune scim<Dragon long by a few people. I'd recommend getting at least 30 agility at gnome agility course, it helps enormously with getting around. You're going to want to get a couple more magic levels for the Camelot tele, and eventually do plague city for Ardognue tele. Training fletching is pretty easy, make shafts south of the GE till 15, then buy/cut logs into bows till about 45, when you can consider doing arrows/bolts, depending how much you're willing to spend. Thieving is pretty straightforward, you want to do men till you can do baking stalls, then stalls till master farmers. Slayer is pretty simple too, at your level you'll want to get tasks from vanakka in the edge dungeon. Herblore can be expensive, but if you want to get it to 30 you can do it relatively cheaply with attack potions. Farming is a bit more complicated, so I recommend you read tip.it's guide, as it's quite helpful. As for summoning, hunter and construction, I haven't really touched those so I can't say. Quyneax
At your stats you could try Chaos Druids if there aren't too many bots. They drop quite a lot of herbs and are extremely nonlethal. Hill giants were a personal favourite of mine back when I had my first dragon longsword. They drop big bones which you can sell or bury (or save and use at a POH altar) for xp. One thing you have to understand about P2P is that you have to spend money to make money. You can spend, for example, 300k on cannonballs and 100k on prayer potions, weapon charge and whatever, so that would put you at -400k before you even start moneymaking. However the investment will result in three times the kill speed, so at the end of the day you'll be up 800k whereas the person without the cannon would be at only 400k.So my first recommendation is to lose the F2P mindset (no offence to F2P players) because it's meant for a game where (non-merchanting) money making is strongly affected by staying power and banking time, unlike the P2P mindset where kill speed reigns. pulli23
Well I would just focus on getting those quests done first. Get an idea for something (like "getting into port phasmatys" - most eastern city of the rs mainland). And then work the quests out for it. Or look into those "member things" you saw as f2p, and try to unlock those. I first did a few of the gnome quests (everything apart the last 2 I did asap). And made sure I unlocked all teleport/transportation options. Transportation in members is very important, walking could take you a day - yes I realize those things can also be done by jewelry/tablets, however it also shows you about the basic landscape and you'll get used to where is what. gliders/elder trees/Yanille/ardougne are relativelly easy unlocked After that you might work for the fairy rings (that quest requires a month or something like that of time). As a very starter quest: priest in peril should be done the day you start rs. (It unlocks about a third of the members world). First they came to fishingand I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing Then they came to the yewsand I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews Then they came for the oresand I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores Then they came for meand there was no one left to speak out for me.
