Bots... just kidding, potions.

You gear up for Bandos, get your sara brews and stuff out.

When you're there, you drink a few doses when you start getting low.

You soon realise your HP isn't going up.

You check your inventory and realise you accidentally brought strength potions.

Can we have a more definitive way of seeing what potions are?

A great one would be to add a label on the vial for the skill it effects.

Strength potions have the strength icon, sara/zammy brews have sara/zammy icons, etc.

The tiers (normal/super/extreme) could remain colour-coded.

Some other potion-related ideas:

Give normal Attack and Defence potions to F2P.

P2P already has supers/extremes, so they're almost never used.

F2P is a bit underpowered anyway, so they could do with a "set".

The red spider eggs/limpwurt root for str pots to the Apothecary was a cool idea.

Maybe something like redberries (close enough to white berries) + ??? for the attack pot,

And a draynor cabbage (boosts defence) + eye of newt (already f2p, and original ingredient) for the defence pot.

Fix the antipoisons.

Currently it goes: Anti < Super Anti < Anti+ < Anti++

Make it something like: Anti < Anti+ < Super Anti < Super Anti+

The current one is a tad bit confusing.

That's all :)

Well, you could just take a few seconds to check which potion you're hovering over.

Also, why you'd have strength pots in the same bank as sara brews seems odd. And they definitely look different.

Breaking out graphical assets for so minor a change would really not be work the time.

Also,

Antipoison < Super Antipoison < Hyper Antipoison < Max Antipoison

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

if your going to add in attack pots i'd have to put my .02 cents in and say give them a weak range and a mage potion.

This. Make the current range/mage potions strong pots and add a +3 regular mage pot and regular range pot. F2P could well use these potions.

In addition, make range pots boost as much as their melee pot counterparts, e.g. ovl boost range by 26 rather than 23. Ranged is the weakest combat style already and can do with that small boost.

Thirdly, make magic potions boost your level just as much, but only add 1% damage for each boosted level you have beyond the level required for the spell. So that if you boost by 20 levels from 85 to fire surge, you'll get 10% bonus damage. If you boost to 125/99, you'll get 26% bonus damage, 5% more than you have now. Magic is weaker than melee in almost all pvm already, so that's not much of an issue, but in pvp it's rather powerful so I suppose wolpers should be changed to +15-20 level boost rather than 26 (1-6% less boost than now as it's already extremely powerful).

Sorry to add so many suggestions but those have been around my head and I just remembered them :D.

  • 3 weeks later...

F2P already has a +3 mage potion by the way... It's called wizard's mind bomb.

And i agree with this. I constantly confuse extreme attacks and special restore pots together as their looks are almost identical and they're both in my 'lets go own some bosses' tab.

I also agree F2P could do with attack/defense/mild range potions. And possibly a 'mild magic potion' as not everyone knows about the mind bomb, and it would be odd having a set of pots with one of them being a drink.

Hmm, I don't believe they have any Pokémon references within Runescape yet. This could be it.
