LRC mining set-up

Recommended Posts

I'm gonna start back at LRC and just curious with inventories.

I'll be using a Lava titan because I don't have a yak,

I will have access to juju Mining pots and coal bags and will use urns if they'd be worth it.

Help with inventories and whether it's better to do coal or gold is very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance :D

18 Urns

3 Juju Potions

1 Coin as placeholder

Nature Runes

Fire Staff equipped

Pickaxe in inventory

This is pretty much if you're looking for the fastest possible mining exp. Gold would be best. Alch the ore as you mine it. The first few minutes is going to be sucky because you'll only have 4 inventory spaces open. Teleport the first 4 urns as soon as they fill to give you some extra inventory space to work with.

If you're looking to bank the ore, don't use urns.

Not intending to hijack, buuuut...

How much faster is a dragon pickaxe than a rune pickaxe? I heard the when mining for conc coal and conc gold the difference is more significant than 10%. Also, how fast do you need to do Barbarian Assault for the master horn to be efficient?

Also, what if I was looking to do it while banking the coal or gold?

Get yourself the gold mining suit from the lava mine in keldagrim as it offers a 2.5% boost to all ores mined and the plate can act as varrock armour. Also your setup should look something like this:

Helm: Golden Mining Helm > Nietiznot Helm (or best plate armour)

Chest: Golden Mining Chest = Varrock Armour > Rune Platebody (or best plate armour)

Legs: Golden Mining Legs > Rune Platelegs (or best plate armour)

Kite: DFS (or best plate armour)

Weapon: Elite Enhanced Excalibur > Enhanced Excalibur

Gloves: Golden

Mining Gloves > Barrows Gloves (or best gloves)

Boots: Golden Mining Boots > Dragon Boots (or best boots)

Neck: Skills Necklace

Ring: Ring of Kinsmanship

In your case, because of no BoB your inventory should have this for the best banking without having to bank too frequently (normally I carry two hours worth of supplies, but you'll have to bank hourly): Dragon Pickaxe, coal pouch, 4 mining juju potions, 1 lava titan pouch.

4 Mining Juju Potions (3) per Familiar Pouch should be the rule. Rings of Kinsmanship is used for fast banking at Daemonhiem and the Skills Necklace is used for fast returns to to the mining guild and then into the LRC. Also mine concentrated coal during southwest rock and southeast rock down times. Mine on w88 as there aren't too many bots there yet and word hasn't spread too much about its popularity. There is a friends chat channel ("mining golds") designated to calling out the rocks down (ex: SWU, SED) and up times on that server.

The Mining outfit is only really going to be worth it if you're banking the ore. If you're alching you'll be wasting more time getting the outfit than you would gain by using the suit.

BA horn is probably going to be more or less the same as it is with Agility, saving you ~4 hours assuming a full horn @ 6 hours per fill.

I'm just speculating though, i'm not sure on the exact number. I imagine it would also pretty much follow the same principal as agility: If you have a steady team capable of filling the horn in 6 hours or less, its worth it. Going above that makes the process less efficient and you would be better off just mining without the Horn.

Also i'f you're looking to bank, just take a Totroise. Fill it with urns (take some earth runes to "activate" them). Keep 1 urn in your inventory. This this way you'll have to bank a bit more often but you'll still be able to take advantage of urns giving you a slight exp boots.

@ Urza: you can bring 3 mining potions (4), and banking is better with a duelling ring, but otherwise you're right. Gold mining gear isn't worth it but you lose only a few hours to 99 getting it.
