Lode
Jagex and player mods mute players who can type well, because they think they're autotyping. I think Jagex should make autotypers unneeded, by allowing you a better way to type, and at the same time avoiding the ability to flood. That is, a built in autotype feature in the client itself, just like there's also "cook all" now. I suggest multiple things for this: 1) You have to wait at least 5 seconds between two messages in public chat. 2) If you press ctrl + enter, the message will remain above your head forever. That is, until you type another message or press enter. That way you can just stand there with the message above your head when trading, without retyping it all the time. 3) If you press the tab button, the last message you typed is automatically typed again. Remember, thanks to the 5 second limit, you can't really flood this way. I'd also like to suggest a few other things to improve chatting: 4) The ability to say "selling rune plate body 70k" (you can't say this right now if you type it literally the way I typed) 5) The ability to turn off "player blah has logged in"/"player blah has logged out" messages 6) The ability to turn off game messages like "you mined iron ore" or "you roasted a lobster" Runescape: Lodev (Combat level been fixed at 101 for years now, Total level 1500+, playing since march 2002)Arenascape: Lode (Level 240+ Warlock)
Lord_Muijs
good idea! there should just be a 5 second interval between ALL messages. this way nobody can flood, not with this system, not by using an auto typer, and also not by typing like the same letter and enter over and over again. Duke_Freedom
5 seconds is already way too spammy for repeating the same message. Check the time interval of autotyping spammers on world 1; it's around that interval. The value of my bank at its height. Estimated value at the peak of the rares market: 250 billion+.Most likely the largest trade in RuneScape ever. Estimated value at the peak of the rares market: 70 billion+. Lode
5 seconds is already way too spammy for repeating the same message. Check the time interval of autotyping spammers on world 1; it's around that interval. When doing a normal conversation with people, you'll need to be able to say something every 5 seconds, or else it won't be a natural conversation. However, if jagex's servers can handle it, they could make it so that you can talk normally if you say very different things every time (a few letters difference is not enough), and that you can say something every 5 seconds, but after doing so for 10 times you have to wait a bit longer, etc... Adam007
Maybe have the 5 second only apply to when you're using the feature that brings back what you just typed, and not to regular chat.
swedishlf
I like everything except option 2, imagine if everyone constantly had something over their head in the marketplace. It would be too jumbled to read.
bigsword33
the control enter thing won't work, as fally world 2 would turn yellow from all the people doing it or flashy and wavy, if you use the special things :D
audee
i am agreeable with the rest but not the "alt-enter" to let the msg stay on ur head.. imagine you are killing some high levelled creatures and u are kinda like in the low health zone.. someone log in and type this alt-enter.. and block out ur health bar.. wad are u gonna do? die and let that fella get all ur left-overs? i eva read a thread about someone type "@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@" and it blocks out his health bar.. i doubt we ever want this.. I'd imagine it would be above or below the health bar's position if it was coded in.. I like the idea myself. If you're in fally and there are words everywhere, just space yourself out. That's just one specific place in one world - other than that one reason for it being not useful, it shouldn't negate the whole usefulness of the idea. uk_swat
It would be a nuissance i think if you was chatting to freinds.. in a casual chat waiting to say "lol" or something 23 whip pks,3 dhorka,2 ahrims lvl 119 attack 99 strength 99 and defence 92 plus 94 mage
blusttoy
Hmm, I support the suggestion of message remaining above your head and the ability to turn off in-game messages. That would certainly clear the chat box significantly. Heck, while we're at improve chatting, might as well make it such that offensive words do not appear at all. Meaning, instead of them appearing as "You are such a *****", make it "You are such a ". This will certainly reduce the stress people receive from knowing that they've been insulted and make chatting much more pleasureable Those who manage/enjoy bypassing the system fully acknowledge the risk of being ban and should they be banned, they will learn [or hopefully] not to speak with a foul tongue. Then again, this is just and idea * *
shawrty4
i dont think it would work because the slow typing people are the ones that make it so we have a chance to catch "selling something" inbetween everyone talking Thank you Yaff2 for the amazing sig and avvy
moopymitchell182
how about when youre typing the same thing over and over, if you tpye it again in under 10 seconds, the message doesnt appear in the chat box... it just re-appears over your head.
