June 18, 201412 yr I think combat brawlers were changed a while back to only give a fixed amount of XP because people were abusing them with sunchokes/prickly pears. You'd only use them faster in the wildy compared to overworld but the total bonus XP they'd be worth is the same. RIP though, some of those guys probably think you still protect 3 items in the wildy.
