January 22, 200620 yr go to start>control panel, switch to classic view, double click network connections. Right click the one for the internet and click properties. Go down to the internet protocol and click the properties button. Then switch it to manually obtain ip address or something along those lines, then type in what you need.

January 22, 200620 yr 1) What sort of internet connection do you have? 2) Why would you want to change your IP? 3) Talk to your ISP about it. Where the bloody hell are you?
January 23, 200620 yr I'm guessing you are trying to avoid a ban? That's a big nono. Theres many scenarios whereby you might want to change IP address. Its not our place to judge. Depending on your ISP you might get a new IP address if you merely turn off your system and routers for an hour. Then when you re-turn everyhting on it will aquire a new IP address. OR... you might have a perminant IP address given to you by your ISP, in which case you will need to contact customer services in order to get a new one. January 23, 200620 yr Just a reference though , as i've had experience with this in the past If your provider DOES assign 100% static IP addresses , you will have one hell of a time convincing them to change it without a damned good reason , and I've never heard one that works in my 10+ years in IT. Also, changing IPs are generally referred to as dynamic, and nonchanging IPs are referred to as static. If your ISP uses one these terms, that's what it means.
January 25, 200620 yr I know the real terms, I was trying to put it into laymans terms. If hes got a static ip then its highly likely he has a high speed connection such as broadband and so would be using a router.
