February 9, 201214 yr essentially I merch on rs. and that's it. but slowly, over time, it seeps into my head, an elliptical spheroid with a single universal joint, the neck, that I might also do other things. So I start using JOT daily, runecrafting with the hood's ess, etc. And I'm okay with all those things. They are fun, short, make me happy, and, i hate to say it, feel accomplished. But it doesn't stop there is the thing. Then I get the idea that I need to find something to learn in video-format so I can play rs. but right after thinking that I realize my priorities are all messed up and in the wrong order. And i think loudly to myself: rs is fake, rs is fake, meaningless, not real, omg the whole world is out there, how was i so brainwashed this week into slowly thinking rs was something that needed my attention, and so on. So then I drop everything in a sudden act of protest, except merching of course (merching is different than everythihng else, believe me). And I feel liberated. But slowly all those things seep back in again. As I write this I'm probably in my 7th iteration of this cycle now, and it's not stopping. in particular, i'm on the uncomfortable cusp of dropping everything again and reverting to merching only, hence this thread.
February 9, 201214 yr Or you could stop playing rs alltogether (including merchanting), thereby reducing the temptation to get back into other things in game. If you feel that time spent playing RS is wasted, go find something more fulfilling and do that instead. Not much we can do here to help.. February 9, 201214 yr Runescape has pulled you deep into the clutches of dementia. Surrender unto me your items, or they will destroy you. February 9, 201214 yr It is possible to live a fulfilling life in reality and play RuneScape. Sure, you might have to accept being maxed is beyond your reach but, that's when you ask yourself what your priorities are and what means most to you. Perhaps you should try asking yourself why you like merching so much. That seems to be the hook that keeps bringing you in. Try and find that buzz somewhere else, somewhere a bit more grounded in real life. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |

Try and find that buzz somewhere else, somewhere a bit more grounded in real life. ^ that's very good advice :). a JOB, for example, would probably greatly reduce my desire to merch on rs, which is, as you note, what's at the core of my continued subscription. Runescape has pulled you deep into the clutches of dementia. Surrender unto me your items, or they will destroy you. This is also great advice. Giving away my rs gp, or dropping it, or whatever, would solve everything. but it might be a bit painful. What would also work would be doing the thing with it which i cannot mention here,
February 9, 201214 yr Plenty of opportunities in real life for arbitrage. Have you tried asking around at a market to see if there's any spare jobs that need doing? It's a great way to pick up experience. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
February 9, 201214 yr Got a full time job. No time for RS anymore.Have a few weeks off. Yay i have time to play RS! ...Naa, i'll go do something that's actually fun. I think that's the problem. I had way too much free time and used to treat runescape as a job. I told myself i was enjoying it, but really, there were way better things to do with my time and the only thing that kept me on RS were the very fond memories, and the commitment already put into my character. (Instead of playing RS i've been replaying Pokemon Red in an attempt to finally catch 'em all :D)
