Jeff Delu
Basically, I want to max out combat. This means I need to get 99 Magic and summoning. Looking for suggestions on how to collect charms preferably with magic as all of my charm collecting before has been done with slayer. My current options, as I see it are bursting/barraging rock lobsters, glacors, or as a friend suggested to me camping abby demons with storm of Armadyl. I'm really trying to avoid doing the lobsters because of the high price tag, and from what I hear it is incredibly dull work. So, that being said, if you have any alternate methods I could use, or advice concerning any of the aforementioned methods it would be greatly appreciated. :) 2496 total achieved June 30, 2013
Noxx
TD's or Glacors are tow of the better choices but seeing as you want more Mage exp, i would suggest Glacors. I get around 50 - 60 Blues per hour and probably about 40 or so Crims per hour.Mage Exp is also pretty decent.
JeRambo
Have you tried doing glacors or tormented demons with magic? Both are very good for blue charms and crimsons. (~50 each/hr) I am currently camping mithril dragons with polypore staff (very cheap!), and averaging a decent amount of green and crimson charms an hour. Around 135 greens, 70 crims, 60 gold, and a few blue charms an hour. Using polypore staff will only let you get minimal magic experience, so using SoA with an armadyl battlestaff will get you more XP/hr and more kph as well, but runes cost around 2,500 gp each .. :( "Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come." "An imperfect man can do great deeds, and a great man imperfect ones.
sohkmj1
You probably haven't done RotM yet as it requires 76 mining. I would suggest TDs then like the others here (although I have absolutely no experience with them so...).
Power
Bursting rock lobsters isn't too expensive at the moment which is good for both, and TD's/Glacors are just amazing overall even with effigies being a pretty rare drop now.
bassjay
I just signed up looking for exactly this topic! I've not been back to RS for too long so off to wiki the suggestions above :).
Quyneax
Bursting rock lobsters is the best imo, it's the fastest mage xp and the fastest summoning xp out of the viable methods (tds/glacors/miths etc.). It costs a lot more however. If you wanted to profit, go (unlock) glacors, tds are lousy mage xp (as in, 10k xp per hour). The_Fray
If you are really low on cash you could also consider using battle robes and staff of light which saves about 50% of the runes making bursting even cheaper. I had a few hundred FOG tokens stocked up so it was well worth my time getting them. They last for 6 hours in combat but since you are only in combat with the robes when casting spells, they should last a lot longer than 6 hours(use proselyte to lure, saves prayer as well). But I do agree bursting lobsters is quite dull.
