Are Auras...worth it?

I have 70,000 loyalty points and i just can't decide what to spend them on. I've been looking at most of the Auras and the affects are cool, but the cool down time really put me off. However, I really like the cosmetics... but I'm wondering what auras are really add benefits to your game-play over cosmetics/titles.

I've considered purchasing the Jack of Trades as it seems to be the only one that gives Xp to a skill of your choice. This would definitely towards Summoning; it's the skill I want to level up the most, but gathering charms are tedious. Is Jack of Trades is actually worth it though? The Xp seems to be really low.

I would appreciate any opinions about Auras, and which ones are worth it and what aren't.

Thanks in advance!

I heartily recommend JoT. At lvl 93 or so i get a little over 8K xp each day. It's pretty much equivalent of building the statue in varrock, just daily instead of weekly.

It does seem as a wise choice. I believe I would get around 6k Xp for Summoning at level 81. That's over 42k Xp each week, excluding the Xp from my weekly penguin points.

Appart from that, couple of tier 1 ones are quite "useful", reverence for example. You can always try getting the most expensive ones, but honestly, since they have limited use, you can live just fine without them, at this point they are nowhere near mandatory for any activity.

Jack of Trades x10000000000000000

Apart from that they are as useful as you need them to be. If you are constantly doing herb runs say, Greenfingers is handy, but if you are doing a lot of bossing/powerslaying then Revernence might be better suited.

Regardless, Jack is a universally helpful aura.

I was tempted to get 'The Awesome' title because of this. But then they would only release titles that require more points to spend or new amazing auras with better and frequent use!

Don't bother with skilling auras, unless you are really trying for maximum efficiency there usually is better stuff to spend your points on. Jack of Trades is of course heavily recommended. Vampirism can be quite useful. Equilibrium or knockout can slightly speed up slayer trips, might be worth thinking about if you do a lot of slayer.

There's a theory that skilling auras are a percent point boost to success rate rather than a percent boost. E.g. if you have 50% chance to catch a fish/chop a log/mine an ore, the aura would increase that to 57%, not to 50 + 0.5*7 = 53.5%. For rocktails, where the catch rate is a lousy 10%, the aura would increase xp rates to very high levels (to the point of being worth it for pure xp, and 500k profit per hour to boot). I haven't seen any data to prove or disprove this, but Dragonseance says his data supports it, iirc.

Jack of Trades is great for those slow skills but is not useful past w/e your xp goal is, so if you were intending to play a great deal past your xp goal (max) you might want to get something else.

Greater/Master greenfingers makes 50-100k gp per farm run you do (doing torstol over snaps).

Thanks for the replies guys. I brought Jack of Trades seeing as it will provide additional Summoning Xp for me each week. I'll be waiting on the new batch of auras releasing this month as advised.

However, you can put the XP in any skill. So once one slow skill is finished put it into another, and the JoT will last a fairly long time.
