Logs only effect firemaking xp and seeing how it is not exactly amazing firemaking training it is best just to use maples to allow for maximum profit margins.

I went into more detail and explicitly said it is best to just use maples.

SigPhi agreed with me just adding a extra detail about firemaking xp boosters.

 

To add extra details in terms of actually getting them it can be tricky to straight up buy the logs, heck even scared oil can be tricky to buy. But however you get them (buying them , buy oil to make them or temple building to make them from scratch) yes maples are the way to go.
