I'd like to remind people of the rules pertaining to Times threads:

Rampant flame wars have taken control of virtually every week's times discussion topics. The following guidelines must be followed when posting on this topic. Posts that ignore these guidelines will be removed.

 

1. You are invited and welcome to express like or dislike on articles and a particular author's writing style. It is not acceptable, however, to flame or personally insult an author. Posts that aren't anything but an attack will be removed from the topic.

 

2. Spelling and grammar errors can be reported to tripsis or Jaffy1 by PMing them and they will be fixed promptly. It is not necessary to post them on the discussion topic.

 

3. Off topic posts that do not discuss the content of that week's articles will be removed. This is not the place to discuss the direction of the times, how much you love or hate the times, etc. Off topic posts will be removed.

 

By keeping within these guidelines, Times discussion topics will mean more for the Panel and Administration than just a place for flame wars. Flame wars do not provide any useful feedback to the Times, which is mainly what we're aiming for with these topics: feedback.

 

This policy is effective as of now, November 17, 2010. Any posts prior to the creation of this policy may or may not be removed according to the new guidelines.

In reference to the second article, I found it as one of the most hilarious things I have read in a while. I had no idea how much Jagex or Runescape was in the news, thou I am disturbed by the last news brief about the man who had sex with the minor child after "marrying" her Runescape. That was actually disappointing to read as it could have turned out a lot worse. Glad I turned down my "marriage" proposal when some random player asked me to (thou I wasn't planning on doing so anyway).

It really highlights the need for kids to not reveal personal information, doesn't it? Unfortunately, there are some pretty scummy people in the word. Fortunately, they're a small minority of the whole.

The news broadcast in the second article is funny... they don't get it. "virtual items in Runescape" > court ruling more or less suggested they weren't virtual, lol.

The featured article kind of bothers me.

 

Of course the RSOF will have a community and of course it will be active. If your fansite's community is active, it's guaranteed the actual site's community will be more active. Simply because it takes a curious initiative to go out looking for a fansite's forum and become a community of it. Meaning any other fansites community will die long, long before the community from the official site will. Time and again it's been boasted that the RSOF is one of the most popular gaming forums ever. I think it was even ranked 3rd recently. So to have expected the RSOF community to have died before your own seems to suggest a very snobbish/ignorant sense of things.

Lol I hate the 2nd article. Not because, the article itself, but how there are nasty people out there who would just take advantage of some 13 y/o girl. Then the fact that the girl allowed it in the first place, and multiple times. I've been on this planet for over 20 years and never met any of these kinds of people. But, I suppose these are things you'd never find out about someone.

 

Love is love, and some people say age doesn't matter. But 13 and 54 + married on Runescape. Ye I'm glad that's not allowed.

What I find funny is that I think the two SoS Dungeons were suppose to help take care of issues like these (be it direct or indirect) yet that event happened last year in February.

If I remember correctly, everyone has to answer the questions at least the first time through. After that you can just use the shortcuts.

Amusing second article, the first however.. Not meaning to be rude but it had little interesting insight, told me nothing the average Joe doesn't know already and had very little lasting sentiment or opinion from the writer.
