DG Binds.

Reading a different threat, it reminded me of something.

Now my current binds are as follows:

Blood Necklace

Prom 2H

Surge Box

CC Staff

I know it's a bit unorthodox (sp?). It's something i probably have never seen anyone use. I do not really plan on changing this "setup" unless i manage to get a Hex. That's the only time i'll ever change it. Maging really has a lot of advantages, i feel. Certain GD's just get done so much faster. And at the level i am now (and with the level of the people i mostly DG with), it seems that 90% of the time there's 2 or 3 hexes on my team and one or two people with Plates. I think of the last 20 odd floors i've done, only 2 or 3 other times have i seen someone with a Surge Box.

Now my question is this. I'm struggling to really find out which monsters i should Mage.

Currently i basically Mage all (well, anything from lvl 80+) Warriors (whether they are Forgotten, Earth, or whatever), high level Hill and Fire Giants (although i think i stopped doing Fire Giants), and all high level Skeletons (the ones which have RED combat levels). Sometimes when Mage certain high level Zombies too, as it seem's to work pretty well on them. I mage most Demons (always Black Demons). That's about it.

What i am unsure of is what else i should be maging. I have Blazer t10 at the moment.

I've maged most monsters at some point or another. What i noticed is that certain Shades (the higher level one's) seem to be pretty weak to magic, as do high level ghosts. But does it come close to melee DPS at all?

Also, which bosses should/could i mage? At the moment there's really just one i find mage to be useful on (Skeleton Trio). I've use it on the Pummeller once or twice, and it seemed to do pretty well there too, especially once his Def gets a bit higher. Don't think i've really used/tried it on any other boss.

Also, before anyone mentions Air Surge vs. Fire Surge. I try my best, for the first few doors that open, to pick up as many coin/pure ess drops as i can in between drops. I pick up as many FirE Rune drops as i can, too. Then i usually just run back to "base" and make some runes (which usually takes me about 20 seconds to make a fair amount). I don't really think this wastes too much time, as the time saved using Fire Surge makes up for the time lost for making runes (and probably saves more time).

Also i DG in w67, no one there gives a shit about wasting 20 seconds :D

About bosses:

I almost always mage necrolord, rammernaut, dreadnaut, hope devourer. Maging works on unragered harlakk and ballak too - shines on harlakk, ballak only when his bar is high.

No actual research on my behalf, but gets the bosses done. Unsure about gravecreeper, I somehow forget to try to mage him even if I have fire staff made.

I want jagex to put resource dungeons and dungeoneering skill doors to dungeoneering floors so I can dungeon and get dungeoneering xp while I dg so I don't have to dg to get dg exp, but I can dg while I dg :)?

Efs would save you going back to get runes, but I'd personally break the staff for a plate, without a defensive bind it is difficult to path. If, as you say nobody is worried about you going back to base then I'd be using that time to cut a high tier log and turn it into an efs.

I don't see why people keep saying it's hard to path without a defensive bind, to be honest. I've had almost no problem doing it. I find that i have about as much difficulty as people who have a plate binded instead of a hood (when it comes to rooms where having something agro can give you a hard time, like the statue rooms that need weapons, etc.).

It's more than easy to stay alive because of all the gd's that drop food. I die about the same now as i did when i had a hood, and i think i've actually managed to improve myself a bit.

I assume you meant constant dying when saying pathing without a defensive bind can be hard?

Probably because having a hood bind is the same as having no defensive binds for the time that it is deactivated. If at any stage during a floor you die somewhere that you can't immediately pgt/gt back to, you're going to spend the same amount of time running back to where you were that you would save from the increased magic dps. The more times you die, the more time you waste re-tracing your movements.

Your current style of dging is definitely inefficient.

Bosses that mage is really horrible against:

Bulwark Beast

Hobgoblin Geomancer

Skeletal Horde

Unholy Cursebearer

Shadow Forger

Runebound Behemoth

Fleshspoiler

Warped Gulega

Blink!

Gorger

Kalger

Bosses that ccs mage is better than melee:

Necrolord

Dreadnaut

Hope Devourer

Skele trio & runebound during pray against melee.

Not including furn/ice.

Really? Obviously no defensive bind, prom 2h over pba, crafting fires, choosing to mage when melee is more efficient.

Yeah, i run around maging everything i see. I'm pretty sure i did mention i only mage things that are weaker to mage than melee. Perhaps you did not read that? I even went to confirm that what i was maging was infect weaker to make than it was to melee (which it was, and i even found 2 more things i can mage over melee). And i don't think i've crafted any runes (except for the laws/cosmic at the start) for the last 10 or 12 floors i did. Started looting elementals wherever i can.

I also don't get how not having a defensive bind can be seen as inefficient. If i manage to stay alive without it, and not slow my self down, then i don't see why i need to have a defensive bind. It would make much more sense maximizing dps then. There's a reason i have Soul Split.

I also have a PBA now, got it yesterday.

The guide tells you what to mage. I.e. not shades, not hill giants, not 154 skeles, not low level warriors, etc.

You were the one who said you craft a bunch of fires at the start. And that your binds were shit. And you still refuse to use a defensive bind. (Even suiciding one is required for efficient suicide dging.

There's a difference between "magic is accurate against this creature" and "magic has higher dps against this creature".

If you're going to give or ask for advice - please only do that. Leave the snark for in-game shenanigans please, as it doesn't have a place here. Please don't make me do work remove bad posts! Thanks.
