Is it worth praying on wfs?

Just wondering at what level tanking Waterfiends is viable over praying protect/deflect ranged? I'm killing them for a task right now and without prayer they don't seem to hit very hard...

If you have soul split, use it to heal, if not, protect range, you'll have to eat less, which is cheaper(food dependant), and increases dps.

If you mean boosting prayers, you should always use them on task. Tiny cost for a huge dps boost.

Also, doesn't Karil's have more mage defense than royal? :unsure: Probably doesn't matter much though.

You forgot your magic level which is probably more important than defence level, and prayer level which is certainly more important.

In general, soul split flash > protect prayer. But protect prayer > soul split non-flash. And protect prayer > food.

If you're not in the chaos tunnels, soul split flash > bunyip > protect prayer + bunyip > food provided you can survive on a bunyip.

I personally just soulsplit flick to heal, and if it gets a little hairy (Due to me afking) I'll flick between protect range and soulsplit to comfortably get close to max health again. I also use EEE because no other special is worth using.

 

Always always use turmoil/piety on any thing you ever kill. Prayer restoration is cheap and compact in terms of inventory waste, theres no excuse not to use it.

 

Edit: This is with iron titan in chaos tunnels. If you don't have titan just use a unicorn for healing and you shouldn't need to soulsplit.

Depends how much you value your ability to AFK, claws will increase the total charms/hour for sure but it's by such an insignificant amount that i don't personally find it worthwhile. If you're actively trying to "play" runescape and find higher APM better then go for it, but i kinda zone out when doing waterfiends :P

As people have said before, it is very dependent on what you can access for healing methods. If you have ganodermic, you probably won't need to use protection prayers.

Ganodermic is, however, more expensive than protect prayers.

It's best to use bandos w/ a bunyip and occasionally ss in the ac. For ct fiends, pray mage while they're aggro and ss as necessary in bandos with an geyser/iron/steel titan.

So with the grace with which the thought-noodles descended on the Bowl they will now be expelled, each departed to the head from where it came, but with a note attached: It is To Pray, To Pray, To Pray, To Pray. The answer will echo in all the minds, and the Bowl will once again rattle emptily.
