Tears of Guthix minigame

Featured Replies

Ugh, I HATE how the streams randomly change without warning! Last time I did the game, I spent a third of the time just chasing streams because they kept changing literally every second. Worse still, by the time my character got to the stream and put the bowl under it, it had already switched to green, so not only was I wasting time chasing the blue streams, I was losing tears in my bowl. It doesn't help that the animations are so freaking slow, either...

In order to make it less irritating, what they could do is this:

- Speed up the character animations. Seriously, it doesn't need to take that long.

- Make the streams change less often. Put a minimum time they have to stay in a certain position before changing again, say three to five seconds; not long enough to be abused, but long enough that it feels like the player accomplished something.

- Give us a warning that the stream is running out. Make the streams flash or fade or something to let us know that it's probably a good idea to find another stream to collect from soon. The warning wouldn't need to be more than a second long, whatever form it would take. If nothing else, a warning would help offset the time it takes for the standing animation to run.

The minigame is supposed to be a reward for doing the quest, but as it stands, it feels less like a reward and more like voluntary torture. It would feel more rewarding if it were less frustrating to do.

It's giving out free xp and quite high xp at that considering the effort/time taken. You hardly expect them to make it easy do you?

10k xp for 3 minutes of work once a week ... that's hardly good XP except for the slowest of skills.

I bugged out in ToG once and got to run around the cave instead of walking, now that was a good round.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

It's not bad xp for lower levels. I cant be arsed doing it anymore unless I feel like it due to the same frustrations as you.

No one is making you play the minigame. If you don't like it, you don't have to play it.

Finally on here to update that I have officially quit! It's been fun.

Agreed. It's not really worthwhile unless it's a skill you can't stand. It needs to be updated or something.

I did always get a kick watching someone else play alongside of me and announce "wow 200 points" Uh-huh. I used to average in the 130's at best. There's no way you got 200 kid.

Sorry to break it to you mate, but your average has absolutely no bearing on what others can achieve. 200 is doable with luck on your side as well as maxed QP.

Lol "kid"... You don't even need max quest points. This is a screenshot I took in May 2009. It's the most I ever had.

As annoying as this mini-game can be, it does give out free experience points for such minimal work. Thus, we cannot complain for such minimal tasks for free exp.

I logged on a few days ago to do my Tears. Only managed to collect 50 due to it keep changing.
