It's not about selfishness, not that I am selfish at all, but rather the freedom given to the players. The number of times Earth has destroyed something of mine and/or killed me in Space because of a potential risk (note, not actual, potential, there has only once been an actual risk caused by me, and there the only casualty was him because of his own carelessness in his (unsuccessful) attempt to deal with it) or unjustified distrust can't be counted on a single hand.

I meanwhile have never been directly responsible for the death of another player or the destruction of their equipment.

What about that time you tried to bathe a ceasium asteroid?

You were the only one Earth ever killed, and I'm sure he could have defended his decision on the spot, at the time.

And I can't help but doubt your impartiality, if you'll pardon my prejudice.

Please tell me this ceasium astroid bath was before I was brought to Forum.Tip.It......

That was the one actual risk, and Earth didn't ruin that, he tried dealing with it by transporting directly into the damaged area and subsequently asphyxiating. I was the only other person that died during the accident and the damage done to the ship was swiftly repaired using the materials gained from that asteroid.

And Earth has also stolen a pet robot of mine that was made from trash, blown up my room because he didn't like the fact that I isolated it, chopped my arm off in order to get his hands on the computer I had grafted onto it and countless other such unnecessary events.

Okay that one is completely justified. You were explicitly threatening the crew with it, and bragging how you'd have an unstoppable invincible bodyguard to keep everyone else from stopping your stupid projects.

The way things fell in the first Space, peace was kept through lack of exclusivity. That might not work out this time, of course, but unless we learn to keep the peace somehow then things will fall apart.

Though I don't terribly dislike the idea of things falling apart, it makes it interesting.

The bodyguard was the second robot I made, one that was to be the polar opposite of the one Earth stole, and I never bragged about it, what happened was that Dusty attacked me and the robot punched him through a wall in retaliation, something which piqued quite a curiosity among everyone present.

See, that's where you justified our aggression.

Dusty was THE CAPTAIN. Up until the point where he ran away and built a super-destroyer (I told you guys since the start that we should more closely control the flow of resources), he was still in a legitimate position of command.

I actually would like to note, Nefer, that you're bloody wrong. I was assuring Retech that he could have his own rooms that people couldn't walk into and steal whatever he was working on, and that he could keep his own money for research he did even if someone else tries to claim it. Me getting the money would only come into play if I asked Retech to help me with drone upgrades, ship upgrades, or other things that fall into my jurisdiction. Also, Mather as a captain would make it hard to play, for me. I feel that there'd be bad blood between me being, admittedly, a dick for the good of the ship back in Space 1. I'm hoping it doesn't carry over, but if it does, I'd probably drop out of the game.

Well I'll be [bleep]ed if my body doesn't loathe Sundays. *sigh*

Alarm has been set half an hour before future sessions and ny subconscious has been thoroughly reprimanded for allowing me to be beyond late twice in a row.

Don't worry, Earth, I may not exactly trust you, but I'm not gonna stop you from doing anything unless you are blatantly doing it with hostile intentions or you are putting the ship or its crew in danger.

EDIT: I would like if people could give me an evaluation of Earth's performance this session. Alg has already given his.

I was glad it was Earth telling me to do stuff and not nef.

Let's get this straight now: Helena is not a space janitor. Helena is just a quiet (she did not speak to anyone nor vocally replied to any command the entire time I played) lady that doesn't approve of spilling tea everywhere.

I get that.

Earth performed reasonably well given that he didn't try to set fire to the shuttle, unlike Nef and Nex.

He also repaired the ship following an almost complete systems failure.

He did blow himself (and everyone else, if the computer hadn't stepped in) out of an airlock though.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

That sort of mishap wouldn't be too hard to belay in the future.

Then I'll go ahead and promote Earth to chief of military operations. This means that unless I say otherwise, Earth is in charge of retaliation and defense. Also if we mount an attack and I neither choose a mission leader or take the position myself, Earth is chosen by default.

Well, the airlock shenanigans was because I didn't realize we weren't at the station yet and thought the computer was being silly. But that computer, man. It's getting a memorial for all the stuff it did.

Anyone who was interested in playing Empires should come to a Tip.It IRC labeled #Empires tomorrow, 2 o clock EST, or the regular session time. There'll be a discussion on how to continue the game under the new conditions. If you don't come, you don't get a say in what we do and what we decide for the future of the game.

Channel is up for people to join. I'll be working on a project and won't be paying attention until 7:00 GMT, or 2:00 EST.

Name is #Empire

Arch can't make it so it's essentially a ship design and planning session.

Actually, I requested operator because I felt that it would be better to have an impartial host owing to Archi not being here. You, being one of the most partial members of this forum just isn't a safe choice. Especially considering your random on-board executions way of dealing with things rather than reasoned discussions.

No, you crashed it by saying you were Archi and then lying to me. You asked for Op when I was distracted by other questions and then just started effing with the channel. The new channel is in place and you are banned from it.
