Fight Caves Post-EoC Tweaks

In the interest of keeping things simple: I have a fight caves task and my last attempt was over the summer, what should my inventory look like?

 

Should also note that I don't have overloads or soul split, and I'm planning to use obsidian armor and the appropriate two-handed weapons for each style.

I'm not sure how long you need, probably 40 minutes or so? So that'd be one flask each of (extreme) attack, strength, magic and ranged, plus two vials of renewal. Then add ~8 pray pots, runes, the rest rocktail or shark. Vampirism aura if you want more healing, but it should be fine. Obsidian has tier 60 stats rather than tier 80 atm, and the damage reduction intended for it hasn't been implemented yet I think? It's still the best tribrid equipment I suppose.

Fight kiln is same as caves, you just got to save some space for crystals, watch your safespotting/location and bring something to deal with dills (I'd suggest titan but that's kind of impossible now, so, pickaxe?).

How strong are jads anyway, as prayers can only neglect 50% damage now... Thus, if their damage has been reduced, wouldn't you just be able to soul split through it(within reason, ofcource)?

I believe that the prayers work 100% on Jads. Don't Soulsplit Jads. I tried, and it hurt. It still hurts now.

 

@Alg, this is what I'd do in your situation.

 

Ancient Curses, Normal Prayer book. Ancient Curses only for Bloodfire Barrage/Burst as you might not have enough food. Even though the Melee monsters are water weak, you'll still do a decent amount of damage on them regardless.

Upgrade/Downgrade as required, I'm too lazy to DG for Maul & Cstaff.

Might want to switch out a row of pots+renewal for food if you're not that comfortable with such low food supplies. Your speed wont be that impacted anyway as everything gets downed pretty fast.

Take Dreadnips if you have them (Can't remember if they're allowed).

I've soulsplitted jads in void (with titan), but I died on the third, so it is possible but only barely and not consistently. That was before the accuracy/defence changes, so now Jads presumably would have much higher accuracy and your success rate would be lower, also because you lose titan dps. Anyway, protect prayers work 100% as Tans said, so just pray switch.

You can also use resonance against the jads to heal up.

I believe resonance doesn't work against any bosses now.

Mod Emilee confirmed months ago that prayer swapping was a mechanic of the fight and as such, would protect you 100%

when something continues to work as it's worked for the last 7 years that's a bug?

 

(and anyway as jad is the only exception to the 50% reduction that I'm aware of, how would that even happen as a bug? and what are the odds of prayer reducing damage to 100% on the one monster that prayer switching is used on due to a bug...)

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

Tormented demons are another exception, you only take one damage for a hit with the right prayer on. For glacors, the protection is over 50% but they always dealt small damage through protects, that hasn't changed.

 

Finally, resonance should work fine on jads because they have no special attacks. It works on bosses, not on specials, which is especially relevant for lp - 1 attacks like Nomad's.

Resonance - while just as good at absorbing damage as it's always been - no longer heals you on special attacks from major bosses. Examples include Nomad's Disintegrate, or the Kalphite King's Burrow/Emerge attack. So, while it'll still help you avoid big hits from bosses, you won't be able to use it for healing, making food much more important (and valuable) for boss fights. Note that it still heals when fighting regular enemies.

 

I think that implies that it does heal you from regular attacks from major bosses. "Big hits" being the specials, as opposed to the regular attacks.
