As I'm pretty sure more of it exists at any given time, and annoyingly you can actually click to move past more than you can see through some of the border. So... Against rules? Remember in 2011 how they hacked the client to change the zoom controls? Couldn't do anything with the gui. Plus, the part of the minimap that is displayed is also the amount of the game that renders. As for obtaining it, I don't think it'd be that difficult, you'd just find where it's temporarily saved on your computer and see the raw data before any filters such as the minimap GUI are put on...
