bhim
So since coming back I've tried to adapt to the new EoC changes, and I really like the addition of hotkey dropping in mining. I've heard that it is possible for higher level miners to achieve rates of 100k+ exp per hour, but I have yet to even come close, and I wanted to ask to make sure I'm doing everything I can to achieve the highest exp rates possible. I'm currently 96 mining, and my set up is: Worn: Golden mining helmet, varrock armour 1, golden mining trousers, golden mining boots, goldsmithing gauntlets, fire staff, amulet of glory, ring of wealth, t skillcape, and basic quarrymaster (3%) Inventory: 22 decorated mining urns (I think this comes to 82.5k exp), nature runes, dragon pickaxe Hotkeys: 1-Superheat, 2-drop gold bar, 3-drop gold, 4-drop coal, 5-teleport urn (can tele one without stopping) I've logged 4 hours of mining and achieved rates of 75k, 77k, 79k, and just now I got 88k, which was very surprising. The first three times I was unable to use all my urns before quarrymaster ran out, and this last time I wished I had had a few more urns. The basic gameplan is obviously keep a gold ore handy at all times and just click and press 1,2, and occasionally 3; rinse; repeat. The biggest problem I face is in the early game. Having only 3 spaces for ore makes it fill up quickly with the extra ores and my character stops. Worse still, sometimes the hotkeys don't work! I've noticed that if I click anywhere or let my inventory fill up, I have to reset the gold bar hotkey or it won't drop one when I press 2. I'm not sure if this is a glitch or what but it usually makes the first 6-10 minutes a bit more tricky, and I definitely think I might be losing exp here - my trouble with this is the main reason I decided to start this topic; any insight would be fantastic. Have I got this all right? I know I'm losing a bit of exp by not having a familiar (I'm only level 60 summoning and have no charms), and I guess I lose out on a little by not using the golden mining gloves, but smithing gaunts are better for overall exp. Any thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated!
Hedgehog
You need at least varrock armor 2 for gold. With your setup, 89k xp/hour should be your average. You're probably losing ticks by not quickhopping and mistiming your superheats. I highly recommend getting varrock armor 2, it'll boost your xp/hour by nearly 9k. Getting a lava titan would boost your xp/hour by a further 12k.

I'll look into getting va2, would getting va3 be even better than 2? Or should I stop at 2? Thanks a bunch for the reply!
Th e Doctor
Quickhopping is right clicking someone in your friends list and hitting join. It lets you switch worlds without having to go through the 30 second or whatever it is countdown by going to the lobby first. It also saves you from having to run to the next gold spot as it's more than likely up on the world you're switching to. Get v2, getting the higher levels while having other bonuses which are nice, will not up your chances at more gold. You should be superheating the second the ore comes into your inventory. Put a gold ore in the bottom right of your inventory. When you get another ore hit superheat, when the animation is over hit drop. It should do it to the ore you just got and not the one in the bottom right letting you use that one until you need to switch ore spawns. If any of this is wrong (I don't think it is) someone else feel free to correct me. cowmaster187
if the hot key stops working you can hit enter or space a few times and it will reset it. i do not recall which it is. when i was going for 99 mine i just dropped all the ore (using the action bar) and i managed to get 100k an hour just barely. ~~~legoman187~~~ Clicky siggy for blogThanks Pendonub for fancy new sigThieving guide[WIP]Loyal player since May 2005 and member since November 2005 and Tifer for many years~~~legoman187~~~
Tempest Mike
How useful are juju mining potions? Worth spending the time or get?
Hedgehog
No, not worth it. I mean, they're minimal effort to get (literally only like a minute per dozen of herbs) but they have no benefit. Plus their effect disappears when you quickhop.
