How To Write a Quest Guide?

Hi,

 

I'm currently doing the Bringing Home The Bacon quest that was released today and was wondering how I would go about writing a quest guide for it?

Generally you always want to list the items needed, as well as your own personal recommendations that isn't on the Quest guide (for example, a bath in the Oo'glod due to the amount of running you'll be doing), skills required, NPC's involved, and steps required to do the quest.

 

The steps can be split into two versions, the first can go like:

 

"Make A by using this on B, then go talk to C, ask him about the Skill D and he will send you to E to find F"

 

Which basically tells you exactly the happenings of your every step.

 

Or it could go like

 

"Use A on B, talk to C, go to E and click on F"

 

Nothing but exactly what you need to do with the mouse cursor. Least amount of spoilers for the guide reader, and the least amount you have to read for those who don't care about the lore.

 

Generally a guide goes one or the other, but sometimes both, though it is recommended that you split both versions

Thanks for the help. How would I go about writing one that could go up on the Tip.it quest guide section of the site? I don't have to be staff do I?

Thanks for all the help everyone. I'll have a look at being a Crew Member. I've been doing a lot of quests recently and I've enjoyed following the guides and I'd like to write my own so I'll at least give it a go. If they say no, then they say no. :)

If you write a good guide before the crew gets around to it, they may ask permission to use it on the main site (it has happened before, iirc). Converting forum code to website code takes some time though, so the crew has work to do even if your guide is perfect (which is one reason we don't put any random guide on the website).

^They used my EW3 puzzle guide (after like 3 weeks riddled with people pointing out flaws in their guide XD) and Ghostly Robes guide from AOW

I'll get onto writing it to post in the forum then. It was good fun so it should be too difficult for me to have one written up in a few hours and then check it all over.
