bird nests

An alternative method to get nests are Managing Miscellania, set it to collect maple logs. If it is the nests and tree seeds in them you are after that is.

Please think before you ask a question. If you ask the right question, its much more likely you get the answer you are looking for :)

If you want seeds, just buy them. They're really not that expensive and good seeds are pretty rare from nests. You could do mtk for a few weeks and only have enough yew/magic for one or two tree runs.

I heard that south of Falador was the fastest way to getting nests cutting your own logs. Are you after seeds or just nests? If nests then the giant mole is pretty good for nests, Miscellia as others stated is good too. The reason I say that south of Falador is the best is they stated that when they updated the trees there first that there was a 15% increased chance of a nest.

I've already got my fill of trees and fruit trees, just that one time I was chopping one down to get the roots and I was distracted by something and then when I looked back the tree had grown back. I just wondered if it grows back like regular trees it might drop nests too, and wondered if anyone had that happen.

I used to do this for all of my spirit seeds :)

  • 2 months later...

Guess what just happened to me? Was chopping down my own grown Oak tree in the gnome area tree farming patch to get it's roots after. While I was chopping it down, a bird's nest fell out. I got a banana tree seed from it. So not only do they grow back if you don't dig them up, they do drop nests too. It hadn't been fully grown for very long at all either, I'd only just grown it and checked it's health. Started chopping to get it's roots and grown another one, and pop, or rather plop, a bird's nest. how about that.

It happened again. Same tree patch, in the gnome stronghold, same type of tree, oak. This time I got a sapphire ring. The next oak tree I grew however didn't get a birds nest.

THEN .. a bit later, I was fishing on the Catherby beach, when I got chatting to someone nice, and they were cooking their fish on a fire on the beach. I offered to get my barbeque. I got it out of the bank. The last time I used it, which was a couple of years ago, there was definitely at least one or more uses left, which I was saving for a rainy day. I thought I was being most generous and cool producing it on the beach there for everyone to share and use .. but it has been discontinued! It merely said when using the fish on it, "this is cosmetic and cannot be cooked on" ARGH!! I saved the last use/s for nothing! I'm embarrassed and rather annoyed!

Anyone remember those? The summer barbeque, during the Summer of Fun festival or whatever it was called, a couple of years ago, it was a prize on the squeal. Why did they can it? It was mine :( I saved it up :(

FYI - in the pre-EOC/RS3 era, I found the best trees for nest drops were Maples. Just sayin' ...

Nests are incredibly cheap now (621 ea +/-), so if you're looking for nests for Herblore purposes, then I'd strongly suggest you simply buy them. If you're looking for eggs for God-birds, the nest drops you get from assigning Maples at Misc/Etc usually contain eggs of all varieties, including Raven ...

Totally each to their own so there's nothing wrong with how you play, but I'm an oldie and refuse to buy anything which I can gather or make myself for free, I find it a waste and far less satisfying.

I'm not particularly looking for seeds or nests. I thought it would be an interesting thing to share is all, after comments made to my original post months ago people were pretty sure nests don't drop from farm grown trees. So, they do.
