Big_Stingman
Need to get to 80 smithing so I can get my quest cape back. I know it is going to be expensive (currently have 74). What's the best way to train it? I am thinking just doing addy bolts but am unsure. Thoughts? I also need to get 76 crafting from 72. No idea what the best way is for that. All advice is much appreciated. ~Thanks in advance.
X3EN
Warbands > all for smithing. If you do not care about lost gp, you should do best ceremonial swords for the rest of the day. Quyneax
Smelting gold is cheap, (smelting +) superheating gold is faster and more expensive (and you don't seem to need magic xp), superheating while mining is best, but you're not 80 mining. Other than that, there's nothing cheap, you can check Grimy's spreadsheets for smithing though. For crafting, go battlestaves. Water or air, air is faster and costs a bit more, water sometimes even profits (due to waterfiend orb drops & high alch value of staves). BobbieK
always take a smelting urn with you when I was smithing for money I found the knives paid the best and they were easy and convenient to offload onto the dude next to the burthorpe bank chest, he just kept buying them however many without paying less, perhaps that's true for all shops now? didn't used to be. I always smelt and smith in burthorpe, if you swivel the camera round from the bank chest you can click on the furnace straight from your withdrawal, and then when you're smelting you can click on the bank chest at the right angle straight from the furnace, the anvil is also clickable at the right angle from the bank chest, not sure about back again from the anvil. steel is probably easiest because there's way less coal to mine for that, might not sell as well at the GE but definitely can sell the end product to the colonel or whatsisname at the bank chest, again the best return is with the knives. I think I remember working out that for the amount of coal you need for the higher ores, it was more efficient therefore quicker xp to smith steel. gold and silver only give smelting/smithing xp but not for making anything with it, that is crafting. Th e Doctor
Superheating gold ore with gauntlets is around 130 k smith and 130 k magic exp/hr at ~5.3 gp/exp. The next most common methods are plate bodies which at the moment are 18.18 for steel, 17.02 for mith, and 15.63 for addy (which you can't do atm). with exp rates at 129 k for steel, 172 k for mith, and 215 k for addy. Your other option would be ceremonial swords with mithril being 8.67 on average (expect to get worse than this at first until you get the hang of it) at 175 k exp/hr and addy at 14.46 and 220 k exp/hr. By those numbers superheating is your best bet if you value magic exp still, even more so if you're 80 mining and can superheat while mining conc gold. Cerri
What about smelting gold and then making jewelry? Is that still a worthy alternative? That way the OP could get Smith and Craft. ... one can dream, right? ... See my blog!
Quyneax
Alternative? Yes. Worthy? Not really. The xp/h for plain smelting is slow enough, but making jewellery is *really* bad. Cerri
I only asked because so many mentioned smelting gold already. Depends how fast/how much the OP wants to spend. That being said, clan citadel helps. :) ... one can dream, right? ... See my blog!
primadog
Crafting xp can be profitable with Super Glassmake. According to Wikia, it's 28k magic, 47k crafting, plus 702k profit a hour. http://runescape.wik...Superglass_Make All I learned in life, I learned on Tip.it
