What should my next chaotic be?

Hello! im returning from a break, and i havent played since EOC beta. I have mainhand longsword, crossbow, maul, arcane stream, and i just bought an offhand rapier. With my refund tokens from the prayers, what shoudl i buy? My gut says mainhand rapier, as now that i cant stab with long i'll probably need it. However, i dont have a strong sheild and im kind of poor (i died for major loss before i quit) so i was thinking the chaotic kite would be good. however the cool part of me wants to duel weild longs. (if i did that id prob buy an offhand crossbow too.)

 

So, whats best in this Brave New World?

Best melee chaotics now are chaotic claws actually. You need d claws + 5 chaotic spikes to build the MH and OH versions. The reason they're the best is that they come with a critical hit bonus, which the LS, rapier and maul all don't.

 

Best chaotic option at the moment though is to buy a staff so you can have a tier 80 mage weapon, and then an offhand crossbow to have a dual wield tier 80 range option.

The style matching isn't very important once you are in the t80 region, i'd aim for things you dont have any substitute for, such as Chaotic Staff and off hand chaotic Crossbow are both better choices than another main hand Melee chaotic weapon.

 

If you want to use Chaotic melee, Buy either a Maul or buy 10 spikes for Chaotic Claws (it takes 5 spikes for each hand), which both are better choices than CRapier mainhand.

i completley forgot about staff, mainly b/c staff before EOC was ass. SOL effect is much less needed now that we dont use "power" runes anymore.

 

how does staff compare to say, polypore or SOL? Is chaotic kite decent now?

Chaotic kite would only come in useful if you're tanking KK or something, in most other combat such as Slayer there's no need for one at all.

 

Chaotic staff is a worthwhile upgrade to accuracy, with 1924 compared to Polypore/SOL's 1694. At level 99 magic (1212 base accuracy), your magic attacks with the chaotic staff would be 8% more accurate than with either of the other two. Your ability attaacks would also deal about 6% more damage, as spell damage is now tied to the level of your weapons. In short it's quite a worthwhile step up even though the CS is only 5 levels higher.

If you like the recoloured sol look, keep it, the staff is worth almost nothing :P.

 

When selecting weapons, only the level matters. Everything else is secondary.

Not entirely accurate. For staves yes, a chunk of the damage is tied to weapon level, for dual wield, the main hand part almost certainly isn't
